EXPO 4: Our dilemma...
I would like to take this time to post what I know and ask that you guys help and not post speculation and drama. I spoke to the track the last time we posted up pictures and they assured me the track would be ready. I obviously stepped on some toes with my tone because the track owner called me back.
It was a strange conversation that ssured me they were working hard to complete the track for May 1st opening (Leaving us slightly over a month of room to spare). I was told I would get a call back March 25th with an update. With only 3 days to go till that update NASA VA has now canceled all their events at Shenandoha Circuit. I personally have not heard one way or the other but feel this is a blow to our chances at a sucessful Expo at Summit Point. I wanted to post this here first before the HT bandwagon got out of hand.
I would first like to apologize for all of the mistakes I have made trying to organize Expo 4. Part of me says it wasn't my fault and other parts wonders if I should have seen some things coming. It pains me to think this will prevent the Expo from happening but we are very short on options. We chose Summit Point based on dates and availability and the fact they never told us of the probablility of the track not being done. Had I known this up front we would have chosen VIR and Mid Ohio which are both now rented on the dates we were offered.
My question for you guys is . . . .
Do we dare try and move the event again or do we regroup and wait til '05? I will do everything in my power to get another location but the venue will likely not be as nice and the dates will certainly be later when the weather isn't as agreeable.
Regardless of what we choose to do let me be clear that we have all of our money still (minus the 3% PayPal steals from us) so refunds will be a non issue if the event is changed again or if it is canceled.
I want to ask everyone to work with me to do what is best for the community and I will do what I can to make that happen.

Good point Yoshi!
This was an attempt to give an update before the rumer mill got fired up. I will certainly give an update once I get that call but I wanted everyone to know exactly what I was hearing.

Trey...
Even though we don't agree on all issues car related, I really do appreciate all of your hard work and determination on every itrEXPO that we've had, even though I was only able to attend the 1st one.
My thoughts are the same as Yoshi's, wait until we hear from them. We have a couple of days, and it's entirely possible for the track being ready. It would be very disheartening to lose such a wonderful track, and I'm not sure how many people will be able to move their schedules about again.
Although I am a little stressed, I do trust your judgement on the matter. Thank you for the update, and I'll be anxiously awaiting any future updates.

Back to the Beaver!
(seriously though, Beaver dates look slim this year, so they may have some availability)
The Glen would be great, but they are very expensive and short on availability.

Now your talkin'!
Well, as always we are thankful to Trey for his efforts. Hopefully, if need be another venue will be scheduled around the same date.
