Default F THEIVES

It's like 5am right now, and i need to vent.

At about 3.30 am my neighbor calls me and says someones tryd to steal your car, i'm chasing them. So i run outside with my bat and my neighbor runs up and we jump in his car and go in the direction of the theives getaway car. Couldn't find the car and then he fills me in:

He was coming home and noticed a wierd car on our street with people in it, kinda strange esp around 3am. Then he went in his house and suddenly heard my alarm going off, he bolts to his window and sees two guys running away from my car (i'm in a DEAD sleep) he chases them and sees them jump in the other car and bolt off, then calls me.

So after not finding their car we both went home, but i couldn't sleep so i stood at my window with my bat in one hand and phone in the other, just watching my car.

I see two people walk up to my car and circle it, so i call my neighbor and tell him their back and to meet me outside...we both run outside with our bats yelling at these ******* and one bolts off, he goes off chasing him and i tell the other one to sit the **** down on the curb. He was trying to tell me why he was circling my car at 4am.

"i was just checking out your car cause it looks really good"

i tell him to stfu and i wait for my neighbor to return, he gets back and lets me know the other guy got away. My third neighbor comes out now too and we all are interrogating this guy about where he lives and his **** keeps changing.

My third neighbor tells me we have 2 options, beat the **** out of him or call the cops...and other neighbors were waking up and looking outside, so we just called the cops to find the report had already been made. The cops come and talk to him for awhile, but since we had no proof that it was for sure him, and since nothing had been done to my car they had to let him go.

The cop told me where he lives and that he has been getting into alot of trouble with the law lately with his brother, and that if we see the car to call them again. She wrote down his address for me and left.

So if you are on these forums you ******* piece of ****, next time you think about coming close to my car, or my neighbors, remember you got 3 houses all within 20 feet with VERY overprotective car owners, and next time the cops will not get involved.

STAY THE **** OFF MY STREET

thx for reading my vent..

Typical answer.

Yeah you go ahead and beat the **** out of the guy and go to jail for a FELONY charge that will ruin your life.

Meanwhile the kid sues you, gets all of your money, AND still knows where your family lives.

Do some of you guys just not think about the consequences of your actions? This isn't some ******* movie, it's real life. Real life has rules, and those rules state that you cannot just beat someone unless you feel threatened with your life.

I say you did the right thing even though the cops let that ****** go. Honestly even though you're pretty sure that kid was up to no good, there's no REAL proof so the cops could not charge him with anything.

Did the option of tresspasing even cross your mind or theirs? Do you have to have "no trespassing" signs posted in your yard to enforce that law in your state?

Yeah if he was under 18 then it's possible that he was at least violating a curfew law in your area if you have them.

thx for the feedback, he was prolly 22ish, and I used to park my car on the side of my house, kind of hidden, but I realized that if someone knew it was there i'd be worse off. So I parked it on the street under a street light directly in front of my house. This produces the smallest distance between me and my car while i'm sleeping. And I can see it from my bedroom window and hear the alarm better.

I have 2 great neighbors aswell, one owns 2 hatches (an 92 SI and a 94 vx) and the other has a full shop in his large garage where he runs an offroad company. So we all are very protective over eachothers vehicles...

This sucks, but i now think this fool will target me again, so rather then spending $200 on a new bumper to replace the hit and run damaged one, i am going to invest in a pager alarm.

On another note, I highly doubt this fool could get into my car.

1. .........
2. .........
3. .........
4. .........

Anyways, I didn't think this would happen to me reading all the stories on here. But it can and will, so be prepared.

Edit: removed list of my security

Just remember that he could be reading this very topic - don't give too much info away.

If he is stupid enough to come back the same night after the alarm went off, he's stupid enough to try again another night - I assure you of this.

Can you not park the car in a garage? Up against the garage doors maybe?

yea guys, just to hit up the topic "beating up a thief"

situtation.
3 people break into your garage. 1 under the car clipping the alarm wires, 1 working on the doors. 1 looking out. You walk out your door, into your garage. You shot 1. other 2 run away.

guess what. they go free or with a slap on the wrist. you goto jail for a long time. read up on your local state laws. it could save you a lot of time.

Shooting and beating are two entirely different scenarios. If some jackass is in my house in the middle of the night, I'm gonna feel threatened.

Damn dude did you even read the topic though?

This guy wasn't in his house - he was in his yard. Believe it or not many states make a huge distinction between the two when it comes to legal issue after injuring someone or killing them.

Secondly how can you feel threatened when the kid is sitting on the curb and you have a baseball bat and two guys on your side?

Some of you guys just look for excuese to **** someone up. In this case he did the right thing by not beating the kid. Beating someone with a bat could be seen as attempted murder.

THINK BEFORE YOU ACT PEOPLE.

I was responding to the kid who made the comment about someone in his house trying to steal ****. I've had it happen, the cops themselves said they were close to taking the man down.

First of all any theif better pray he never gets into my house....If someone comes into my house un-invited, I'm going full on strong with the self-defence plea.

Ether he is just going to be restrained and ill call the cops, or if he tries to hurt me or my family, he will wish he never came in. Simple as that. You have the right to defend yourself.

Obviously defending yourself and running down the block chasing after a thug to kill him is different. But in the case of breaking into your house/garage, its a whole differnt story.

If I'm understanding this correctly, you park your car on the street in front of your house, right?

In that case they were not even trespassing.

You need to park your car on your property.

OK 1st off, thanks again for more support.

The lock mechanism kinda works like a second alarm i didn't wire it so I'm not real sure on how my last owner did it, but I'll call him and **** maybe i can do a write up on it. bassically it disables all lock movement if not activitated, you probably have to have power locks like i do, but i'll find out more info.

And yes i'm parking my car in the garage tonight, I live with 2 other cars and they use the driveway so i'll have to talk to them about giving me space to pull my car in/out.

And yeah my neighbors are awesome.

We got the theives address and if we ever ID the car, then the cops can arrest the owner, or take them in for questioning or something.

After the dude sat on the curb, it's not like i can just start beating him with a bat, no matter how much i may have wanted to, because I had no proof that he tried to get in the first time, and he wasn't trying to go anywhere (he was actually really scared and shaking).

Would I like to have beat up a thief? Yes
Is it realistic in this circumstance? No

I'm not going to jail cause some punk tried to get in my car

ok now that Tom has owned me in my responce on beating them. in the little string of defence i can fight for... i never meant with the bat... and most people are in such a blind rage from the adrenaline they dont think before they act.

were they in a car? just wondering if the 1st neighbor happened to notice if it was the same vehicle he saw the 1st time? or what type of vehicle it was the 1st time.

The second time they very well might have been, but they sure as hell didn't park close...what sucks is he lives like a 3 minute walk from my house...
but if anything happens to my car, guess where i'm going first

Well i'll edit it out, but I don't think it'd change much....its going in the garage and even if they know all that stuff is there, i don't think it makes it easier to get it...

Could a mod edit his post for me^^^?
