Does anyone know if they are going to make the tire in 225/45/15 in the near future??? I'm sure there are a lot of HC racers that would LOVE to use the New tire, including myself, because of the contengency money they are offering..

It would suck to show up with a Different tire at CMP, only for the V710 to come out a week later That would kill any chance for a champoinship prize fund..

So whats the deal? I really don't want to use the V700, and the Victos are too tall..

Anyone on the inside wanna help us out??

 

Wondering the same thing. I think we'll be using the 205 V710 for now

 

The 205/50/15 V710's are wider than the 205/50/15 RS303 Hoosiers.

 

I've seen several posts claiming to know what sizes are coming and they said 225/50/15. Supposedly they are only making the two sizes of 15", 205/50 and 225/50. Enough to make you think Kumho WANTS us to buy Hoosiers.

yea, oddly, thats what it seems like.. and if the V700's just didn't overheat and rip to pieces, I would get them, but they can't hold up..

So the 205 is like a 215 RJ? Like the 225 hoosier is like a 235??

 

We talked to Rudy a few weeks ago about this. Don't hold your breath....

 

Kumho is really lagging behind on the V710 sizes. I'd like to get a set of 235/45-13 V710s before autocross season starts, but apparently it's not going to happen. You'd think they'd want to have everything ready before racing season starts to be able to cash in on it . . .

From what I have read in a Kumho ad, they will be coming in 15" and up. No 14', either.

Keith, who received 2 new 13" Victoracer V700s yesterday...

 

The new V710 in 205 is very very wide.

and to add to that.....the Hoosier 225/45R15 R3S04's are a 1/2in. wider than the R3S03's.....go figure

 

Isn't the rounded shoulder of these new tires the reason they are wider than the previous?

Aren't the contact patches about the same?

 

These tires were de-laminating at CMP this weekend.

Chris Cobetto said they had been banned from SCCA club racing and NASA will probably follow soon.... this tire was on Lionel Kent's pimpy H4 car - others had similar failures.

Looks like these tires are for autocross only. Too bad they don't have the sizes that autocrossers demand

for V710s.

Just to clarify, the Kumho 710 is banned from SCCA club racing? When did this happen?

Where did he hear they had been banned from SCCA already? I haven't heard this yet. Pretty bad news for kumho. Any chance this might have been a rare occurance or has it been happening to a lot of other cars.

 

My V710s (205/50/15) worked just fine at Mid Ohio, and I drove them pretty hard....

Thats what we were told in the sunday morning meeting.

I dont know anything else.

Every team that bought the 710's had at least 1 tire fall apart.. I felt so sorry for their luck... I'm very glad I didn't buy them..

Yeah, but what was the ambient temp, and the track temp, down at CMP? We had a pretty cold weekend at Mid-Ohio...

I'm sure Kumho will correct this problem. If they lose SCCA and NASA, they won't sell more than 10 of those tires a year.

The Bob Woodman guy told some of the racers this and they passed it on to chirs, this has yet to be backed up yet.

The high never got above 73 on satruday and was colder on sunday, it was clear and sunny on saturday with a light breeze, it was 31 friday night so I am sure it took a while for the track temp to rise, it was a beautifuly weekend, and I though I would never say this about kershaw... a little cold.

Yah, but I bet j00 f00s didn't wake up to 1" of snow on the ground....that's Mid Ohio weather for you....

My V710s did fine the 3 sessions (qualifying and 2 races) I had them on when it was dry enough to use them. Temperatures were a bit colder than CMP (obviously) but the tires were (over?)driven hard....

and yes, I am worried about them now that these issues are coming to light...

Chad had his start seperating after the first practice session... I don't think he was really overdriving them.

 

Maybe I got lucky? My tires show no signs of any impending d00m...but'll I'll certainly l00k them over more carefuly now.

Most of them noticed Horizontal lines across the tread and that it was starting to lift from the inner liner.

yup.. I have some pictures of the 'tread flap' (?) on Chad's tires that seemed to be pulling away from the tire.
