Default Do canards/bumper fins do anything?

I was told that these canards are suppose to put maximum downforce on the front @ high speeds.

Does anybody have these on their cars? Do they actually work?

unless you are going to run flat out at 200 mph+ theyare just for show. even at 200mph, i don't think they would work well on a honda.....

I figure if it even makes a good amount of downforce it'd just rip your bumper off at higher speeds..

they seem like they make downforce
even if its a bit, its downforce on the front end which is wanted by any fwd driver

I thought they were supposed to deflect air to the brakes and cool them.Could be thinking of something else though.

nope, they create downforce like someone already said.

Check this --&gt; http://www.macqc.com/raceplates/rigid.htm</TD></TR></TABLE>

those homemade canards look funny...they dont wrap around the bumper. Looks like its going to fly...

theyre supposed create downforce at high speeds and also serve as guides for the wind to create a current to be directed into the brakes. from what i hear they are more useful to guide air to cool the brakes and also are for looks. i dunno i know a lot of people think that they are rice but i think i would rock them on my hatch.

I was going to suggest the same thing. Doctor Cortez has track experience with and without them, and could probably fill you in.

I think they're used to help promote downforce.

Canarads provide some downforce, the one's Doc Cortez had on his car actually reduced his top speed on the track, but provided better handling..

I plan on buying a set when I finally start driving on the track...

I think its just bling.

You're honda is never going to go fast enough for it to actually be functional.

I think that if this is the method someone is considering for cooling their brakes they may want to think twice and get some brake ducting.

I wouldn't doubt a Honda on this board could hit 200, when you take into consideration that Acura is still Honda.

Talk to Doctor Cortez. He has done a bit of R&D with custom-made canards and his butt dyno does notice a difference at track speeds (~130mph).

sooooo not true!!!

make a difference at 50mph!!!

i tested them

and cut my top speed down from 140 to 128 on the back straight at beaver run.....took them off and picked up 12 mphs.....

once again not true....a 60-70mph autocross these would work great...but if they are legal or not is the question
