Default has anyone heard of Sport Compact Pro??? sponsorship offer

I saw an ad about 6 weeks ago in Super Street for this company called Sport Compact Pro that sponsors sport compacts so I figured why not and entered my car for a $40 fee. I just got a letter from them that says I have been selected to be sponsored for a $12000 co-pay for the year (I get parts for like 50% retail and some other stuff) I read through all the fine print and stuff in the letter and it seems like an alright deal. I just have to go to 4 shows a year and put thier stickers on my car. I just want to know if anyone has dealt with them or if they are a legit company.

most legit companies dont put ads in magazines for sponsorships. they just get them...

but hey i dont know...seems odd you had to give them $40 to enter.. and not sure what the Co-pay means...is it like medical insurance....(but is it the good medical insurance that pays for everything, or the crap kind that only pays for perscriptions)

hey you make the call...make sure you dont get screwed though...i just wonder how this company is making the money to give you..

if you had to pay to apply I would doubt there is much chance of anything good coming out of it.

Also $12k for 4 shows and some stickers is ridiculous from a business owner's perspective. I know there are people with wiredspeed.com stickers on their car for free.

If anyone is going to throw down 12k they are going to need to see 12k+ worth of profit from it. 4 shows + stickers does not = $12k.

Sounds like you are out $40.

thing is, $40 isn't going to pay for the $4-5k for an add in super street (was it full page?).

I would be leary of sending them your "copay"

no offense, seriously.

but post up your car and lets see if it is worth them giving you 12k.

i have a 92 cx hatch with about 13k in it, and i know no one would sponsor me for 12k.

i would guesstimate that for them to sponsor you worth 12k, your car would have to have 20-25k already into it.

besides, wtf does this have to do with FI

do a google search. SCAM. You have to pay $80/yr too, but some people are so guilable they fall for anything in a magazine. These things used to be called wholesale clubs, now I guess sponsorship is more appealing.

On a side note, there are so few manufacturers that give their highest level distributors over 50% I could count them all on one hand. I know MSD and autometer go to summit at more than 50% off list. That is with summit buying $250k-500k at a time. I guarentee this place is not on that level.

I hate shady businesses, might have to call them tomorrow see if I can get sponsored .. buwahahaha.

i'll hook you up. $11,999 application fee though, and you have to generate about 100k in sales for me.

i called them and asked how it worked and the guy's example was if I buy an exhaust system that costs $600 retail and they can give it to me for $450 then the $150 comes out of my $12000 for that year. its not even a real sponsorship and you can usually find the part that cheap anyway, so Im not going to do it. It was just funny when I showed my dumb *** friends a contract that I got to be sponsored for 12000 bucks, now all these kids in school think I get $12000 cash and they all want me to buy **** for em.

Don't do it. When they say that they will save you 50% off retail they are full of ****. I was sponsored by a similar company and I found better prices on Ebay!
