Im trying to start my builtup turbo'd B16 and having trouble.
I'm positive I have all the grounds connectec correctly. I tried starting it last night and it would just crank crank crank but wouldnt start. I pulled the plugs and they were completely soaked in gas. I dried out the cylinders and plugs, put them back in, and now when I try to start it nothing moves and the starter just makes a click click click noise Also if I touch the metal on the key when starting the car I get electrocuted. What would be the best place to start for looking for a short?

Also no CEl's are being thrown except 21 and 22 which are VTEC oil press and VTEC solenoid. I'm not worried about those right now.
Also, I noticed some electrical smelling burning smoke from the dizzy/intake manifold area after holding the key in 'start' for like 10 seconds.


Thanks guys, this EXACT same thing happened two weeks ago when I blew a D15 on its first startup so it doesnt have to do with the motor at all, something electrical in the chasis.

your missing a ground somewhere i believe

 

check your grounds, and your ignitor, but if you are getting shocked, its most likely a crappy ground somewhere, and you are completing the circuit.

hey guys, would the 4 wires or 3 on that metal ground strap that goes to the tranny cause this? You know, the ones that ground on the Starter bolt I believe...

 

I would be terribly amused if the starter was imporperly grounded and thus cranking it was juicing your body instead of the engine . That clicking noise from the starter means your battery is dead, by the way, but still capable of holding a charge. Laying on the key for 10 seconds at a time is a great way to destroy your starter, too, just in case you were wondering.

I'd make sure the starter, tranny, engine, valve cover and alternator are correctly and tightly grounded before you attempt to electrocute yourself again .

You're supposed to crank it for 10 seconds to refill the water jackets with coolant and to lubricate everything with oil after a motor disassmbly.

The alternator gets grounded? I dont ever remember seeing a ground comming off it.
