Default f22 swap help

b4 anyone starts flaming i got my friends entire f22, engine, trans, ecu, harness for free so i wouldnt mind putting itin my 93 del sol s. i already did a swap with my mx3 and am very good with cars so heres a few questions i need answered.
1. what motor mounts should i use (and tranny mounts)?
2. will the harness mate with my speedo cluster and everything work correctly?
3. is it actually worth doing (my engine has 260k this one has 150k) and is more powerful
what other stuff should i get besides normal tune up and a clutch?

Looks like you are just trading one really tired motor for another about to be tired motor.

You will need new mounts. gonna be around 400 bucks

Wiring will probably be hell unless you know what you're doing.

not worth it IMO, lot of work for a motor that is so old...

what he said.

I would call it a waste, but seems to me an f22 is good option since his motor has 260k, however only if you're getting the motor for free/cheap.

What series F22 are you going with? F22B1, F22B2, F22A?, ect.

Aside from what other people have said you will need the shifter assmebly with bracket and cables. To install the shifter and cables you will need to cut the floor of the body where the shifter comes into the car. So basicallt once you go F or H series there's no going back. Wiring will be a pain but if you wan the swap I'm sure you'll figure it out. Just follow the swap tips for swapping a H22 into a civic and that will give you a good base point to start from. Heres a link to a great thread with lots of info of swapping a H22 into a Civic. Good luck

yea the engine was free and it runs really well, wiring isnt a prob im an electronics major.
what axles do i use, and honestly am i better off going d16 bc im on a low budget, and is it actually worth all the werk of cutting the floor and what not for the lil power increase

honestly, i'd stick with a d16, too much work and money(mounts) for a tired old engine. d series are a dime a dozen... good luck with whatever you do, and if you swap the f22 in, take pics

Personally, I think it might be worth it. Myself, I'm going to put a F22B1 (SOHC V-TEC) into my 92 CX. The reason I'm doing it is because I totalled my 95 Accord EX and the motor is basically free. I mean, I have almost everything I need so I only have to buy mounts, axles and redo the wiring. I just did a bunch of maintenance to the motor about 6 months prior the wreck and it only has about 90K on it, but I plan to rebuild it before putting it in. I don't have to buy another motor or try selling this one. So for me, I can't see any reason not to do it.

As for the axles, use 90-93 Integra axles or custom ones. HASport has some info about this swap on their website, might want to check it out.

And as for cutting the floor of the car, just think of it this way. If something goes wrong with this motor you can always upgrade to an H22 with some wiring changes and maybe some shift linkage changes.

going from a high mileage go-kart engine to a medium mileage engine that actually has some torque to it's name basically for free is always a in my book.

not to mention, accords aren't as picked over in the junkyards as compared to civic's, etc so he's got a ready supply of used parts if needed....

thats exactly how i thought of it, jump from a go cart engine to a torquey and more powerful engine, the motor is in great shape and my friend is giving me everything for free bc hes doing a jdm h22 with lsd in his accord. the engine is the 2.2 sohc non vtec so its got like 145hp compared to my 95hp d15 thats gonna blow up eventually. i swapped in my mx3 and have helped otheres with probe swaps so im mechanically inclined almost everyday im working on cars for fun.
as for the wiring hes giving me the harness and ecu, what will i have to modify then, the speedo cables? i have a cherry picker of my own to so ill just do it in my back yard and i have time to spare bc i have 2 cars.
thanks for all the replys so far guys.

I don't know what your going to have to rewire cause I haven't done mine yet. Is the motor OBD1 or OBD2? It sounds like your talking about a 94-97 Accord non-vtec motor (F22B2). I think that motor comes with something like 130hp and not sure on torque, I know the F22B1 come with 145hp and 147tq.

put the f22 in...you'll be different and actually know what torque feels like. plus theres a bunch of threads on accordclub.com/board in the 4th gen forum about making a homemade turbo kit. the DSM manifold fits with slight modifications, only problem is the front engine mount interferes in the 4th gen accord....dunno if it'll be a problem for you....not to mention f22's are a dime a dozen

f22 free
DSM junkyard turbo kit with a 16G/18G turbo kit $1,000
being different, boosting a 2.2 liter, and smoking b series: priceless

Well I think that for a SOHC 94-97 F22B2 non vtec motor from the factory it is 130 hp and 139 ft lbs of tq. Yeah I would say go for it if it is free that motor actually has some tq compared to the D series, and with a turbo kit and tuning I have seen people on here make some pretty good numbers. I remember when I had my 96 Accord Ex with the F22B1 motor I was looking into a turbo kit and a ECU and having it dyno tuned but then I decided I would switch to a Civic Hatch.

Personally, I'd sell the F22 swap and buy a D16Y8 with the profit.

It's gonna cost you some time and money to put an F-series in that. I don't think I've ever seen it done.

I'd say it was pointless, find a d16 and use that. They're not expensive.
