Default Shenandoah Circuit completion concerns EXPO

I was at summit point this weekend, saw the track
There are many ppl who were there, that think that the track will not be ready anytime soon.

They have made little to no progress since last year.

We may need to change locations once again.

better to address the situation now, than later, the longer we wait, the less chance we have of getting another track

You are right but there was ABSOLUTELY no reason to do this here. I spoken to RJ and smitdoag and I have called the track more than 3 times to asure they plan to be ready. THey have 6 WEEKS of event sprior to the Expo.

Why do you think they've done nothing since last year? Weather maybe? Snow? There has not been good opportunity for them to work on it but they feel confident it will be done in ample time.

And unless you have an alternate suggestion then adressing it does nothing but make waves.

George says he thinks Beaverun looked almost as bad before Expo 3, for whatever that's worth.

I think we should know this ASAP and make judgement on it. Because contractor's promise is as good as nothing and relying on their words may not be the wisest way.

Since NASA will have a Shannadoah event in May, maybe we should also try to grab some info from NASA as well?

As the title suggested, this is just a "concern".

Would someone else like to plan the Expo instead? What do you guys think I have been doing? I talked to summit point last week when RJ brought this up and I just got off the phone with them. THey fully expect a May 1 event.

That Harsh reality is that in March getting an alternative is pretty much zero so our most likely course of action is to ride this out. Or I can cancel now and refund all monies.

Nothing's changed since the decision was made to hold the event here.

It sounds like SP maintains that it will be ready - the organizers believe them - end of story.

dizzzamn. calm down folks lets not get all emotional and touchy about it yet.

I agree with Trey, finding another track at this point would probably be very tough as all events for the year are already planned at most places. We just gotta ride this out.

Ryan, who knows some of the west coasters are hoping the eastern expo is cancelled

Guess what I picked up when driving in to Summit Point Friday morning?
It is a 2004 Season Schedule.

The Integra Type R "EXPO" is listed for Jun 5-6 on the Shenandoah Circuit.

They also mention a grand opening on May 16th for the new track.

George Knighton:

"Remind people Beaverun looked almost as bad two months before the Expo. We were basically on brand new pavement at Expo 3 last year.

Also, Bill Scott's not an idiot, and NASA isn't somebody to jerk around. Shenandoah is an integral part of both the NASA and Honda Challenge schedules in 2004.

Let's not panic just yet."

Since this "Can of worms" has been opened. I will add my thoughts. I walked the entire track yesterdy and yes there is alot to be done, but all grading has been done. The rest of the paving could be down within a week I am sure. Paddock and pits are complete and even the bridge is in place. It will be done it time!!

Looks like it is going to be a hard track to learn but SO Much fun!!
