Default DA guys with short shifters.

i got a ghetto egay one on my car, it works fine, but after I thought I measured everything correctly when we put my Kteller8 Exhaust on my car it slightly hits the exhaust enough in 4th gear to rattle like ******* crazy...

Guys w/o the ebay ones, how long is the bar under the fulcrum point??? The ebay one is almost 2 inches, and I cant drop my exhaust down or the resonator would be to low... Im aiming for a DC because I good luck with it in my 85 CRX SI, but I want to know how long the under part is that connects to the accual linkage???

I took that wieght off the back of the shifter too(along with the shield)... it was cut off when I did the ebay shifter install... this rattling is driving me ******* crazy...

i had an ebay short shifter on my DA.. you have to remove the heat shield or else it rubs like crazy.. if you didnt then do that.. if not then you got a weird one or you installed it wrong... i shouldnt touch the exhaust at all...

i took mine out 3 days later because it kept grinding from 2nd to 3rd at high rpm.. put the stock one back.. no grind..

the ebay ones are notorious for this.. i dont know about any brand names though..

Removed the shield, just edited it so it says that...

only had grinds with the stock shifter, some times I get a little lazy and **** a shift up, but on hard shifting its fine, you just gotta know how to time it right.

and I put a custome Kteller exhaust on my car, had to weld it up my self, not one of those bolt on afairs, It was fine in 1st gear, but I didnt compensate for ALL of the gears... I had to have it a little higher due to the magnaflow resonator(which is no more then a 4" tall round magna flow muffler)

As for bad sycros, Shifting correctly usualy keeps the grinds away... Im probably gonna go back to stock anyways, since it wont hit the exhaust, but my stock one was cut like a rice boy before I bought it.

I have the DC Sports short shifter. I also was hitting in 4th. I took off my heat shield and banged out the spots where the shifter was hitting with a hammer. Its fine now.

my only gripe was the price on them... I cant find them for any where for a resonable price... my ebay one wasnt bad, but the way my Kteller8 exhaust is I couldnt have it any lower...

Im gonna pull the shifter out sometime soon and grind off more of that weight on the end... See if that clears up some room..it lookled like I had room when we weled on the hangers, but I guess I was wrong... might just find a stock shifter off my friend, he has a few civics layin around and I know that there the same.

I have the JDM ITR shift linkage and shifter in my DA. Talk about a short shifter, but OEM. Better than ANY short shifter out there, and I just about had them all. Combined it with the Prothane bushings and you have one of the best mods ever. Ask ANYONE who has this done, or has felt mine.

I run an Ebay-style shifter on my DA, and I had some problems with rubbing and rattling at first. Solution? Rip off those heat shields. The only consequence of doing that is a warmer shifter, but you can't notice if you have the stock **** and a boot.

The shifter doesn't wear out syncro's prematurely, bad driving does ~

If you pound on any shifter, short or stock, then your synchros get extra wear. If you don't shift like Michael Andretti from a stop light, as much as a short shifter might encourage you to, your synchros don't see any extra wear. Explain the physics to me of how a shorter shift rod causes any more synchro wear. The idea is to leave the transmission in neutral for a second before shifting gears, not just slamming in the new gear. Learn how to drive, short shifter or not, and your synchros will generally last longer.

I dont know if JDM ITR linkage is the same as the other DC linkages. I was very specific, and Id like a specific answer.

It's exactly the same but the JDM ITR has the bronze zinc finish. I'm running it in my car and it's awesome but you still have to remove the heat shield but the shifter itself does not heat up like the cheap aluminum ebays.

Has anybody had problems with the skunk2 dual bend short shifter?

I've heard that if you remove the heat shields, I will sometimes notice the inside of my car getting warmer or my shifter getting warm. Is this true?

You will only notice it get hot if you dont put the rubber boot on the inside of hte car that covers the hole under the console on snuggly

I noticed that my shifter got hot as ****, but when I put that rubber boot thing on it was fine, didnt get any hotter then normal.

i got a dc sports short shifter in my da. i like it just fine, sits a bit low, and shortens the throw considerably. i gotta really make sure its all the way in gear when shifting from 1-2nd because it'll grind, but this is my error, for my foot isnt all the way engaging the clutch sometimes/

yea, ok......

most short shifters will rattle with aftermarket exhaust, depending on the exhaust and shortshifter....my advice would be to call around to skunk2 , dc, b&m, and nuespeed and ask if their shifter will fit...most companies will be more than happy to answer your question

I have had a Skunk2 "single bend" from my 00 Type R in my DA for about a year now with no problems.
