Default Fastline Roadrace performance shifter review (pic intensive)

I bought one of these a couple of months ago. I wanted something similar to the C's driving position one - but since C's went **** up - there was nothing similar on the market until this thing came available.

It has been written about before - but I thought I might chime in with my opinion.

I took some before/after pics for comparison purposes: (sorry if the pics are slow but there is something seriously wrong with the WTDR server)

Centered:

1st gear:

2nd gear:

Near-ness (is that a word?) to steering wheel:

Overall - the shifter is great. I love it. It moves the shifter to within your peripheral vision and throw is the same as stock. The construction is very solid and the counterweighting helps.

I plan to take it to the track to really test it next month. I will be able to compare it more to the C's Driving position one soon too. (soon as I get to see Dr. Pooface's new turbo R)

Overall

if you cut the shifter like 2/3 of the way down, then it would be much shorter than stock.

Does your knuckles hit the climate control when you shift by any chance? It looks awfully close to it.

how bout you look at the pics. the shift throw gets shorter when you move the lower linkage mount away from the pivot ball. this shifter is obviously much further from the pivot than stock. i know the rest of the shifter is longer but that should not affect if it shifts shorter or not. so i was asking if he made some mistake because that confuses me. plus i wasn't asking you i was asking Big Phat R.

This is where you are wrong, if this shifter was the same length as the stock piece you would be correct in assuming it would have a shorter throw, but as this shifter is much longer than stock it will counteract the longer distance between the linkage mount and pivot, and give you close to stock throw. Only difference beeing the **** is much closer to the steering wheel.

cool review.
that piece looks really really clean.

my coworker has had that c's position shifter on his dc2 for quite a while.
it seems to get looser and looser over time, even with tightening.
i guess cause it's not one clean piece.
plus it looks funky haha.

I have long legs - and thus I want my seat as far back as possible to aid heel/toeing. I have a 60mm extension to my steering wheel.

Even with all this - I can easily reach the shifter (even 5th gear). The shifter is nowhere close to the air vents. Throws are short (only a few inches) from 1st to 2nd. Proximity ( ) to the steering wheel is the best part.

I have the Energy shifter bushings as well - which really help reduce sloppiness.

Cost is $149 USD from Heel Toe Automotive
