Default ***Ok My main relay is out...now for fixing it....???

Ok..I just pulled my main relay out and I'm in the process of fixing it by going by this link http://www.markl.f9.co.uk/howt...y.htm

I do not excatly know what the " dry joint " is... I have the cover taken off and I'm looking at it right now...I see all of the joint poking out but do i re soldier all of them or what? Will it hurt to do them all or just some of them? Also how do i remove the sodier???

Any help is very helpful because i really dont know what I'm doing please aim me » werd jimmy

Thanks In advance

Are you sure the main relay is out? Did you do a check on it to see if it was still working? I had the same problem and i bought one before I checked it. Ended out that my main relay is still good and I just wasted money buying a new one. But since youre not buying a new one and attemping to fix it. Test it first.

before attempting to fix the realy, you should figure out how it works. Its now too complicated but it'll make things easier. I think there's an article on it at Howstufworks.com.

Just because soldering has taken place does not mean it was done 'correctly'. All your doing is re-flowing the solder, or resoldering altogether to form a stronger connection.

Cold joints typically happen when the solder/work is not given enough time to heat up and flow.

Will it be reliable, well, your new solder joints will hopefully be reliable...doesn't mean your Main Relay wasn't faulty to begin with though.

Remove the solder from all of the 'dry' joints and resolder, that will avoid potential 'quick fix problems'.

Dry joint is where you see a little section of broken solder, in a ring around the post (tab) that comes through the circuit board.

You have the right website!!!
