Default Tranny cooler...is too big?

is bigger really better??

i got a good deal with a B&M race 28,000gvw (coupons are great)
but after reading silverbullet's (from cl.com) writeup, i got worried.
and he has a v6.

i thought since the auto was acting funny and i biweekly autocross
(cutting back, affecting grades), i may as well go with the "heavy duty."

this is for a 5th gen i-4 with a paranoid driver
that is not ready for a manual swap...yet.

thanks

bigger is better (more surface area) as long as you can get the air flow to them.

can the tranny optimally run at such a low temperature?

and if air flow is key, in addition of positioning the cooler and filter
as close as posssible to the tranny,

would mounting the cooler on the bottom of the radiator/condenser
(near the bumper opening) be a good location????

i don't enjoy the company of rocks and 18-wheeler tire.

or behind the grill, near the hood latch...i couldn't see iam7head's setup.

I have 2 B&M super coolers with part trick shift fluid and mobile 1 ATF. One side is fan assisted all the time and the other is just open to the air. I installed them halfway between the mouth of the bumper and the bumperguard.

Oh I Bypassed the radiator ATF cooler since IMO it adds more heat then it takes away.

It might just depend how you run your car... I hang for long durations in the 4,000 to 7,500 rpm range and never had problems with my trans... I would like to add a little more stall speed to the convertor. Any suggestions for places that do work on convertors?

Is your kcikdown entirely electronic or is it just run thru a throttle valve cable system that is connected to the throttle lever or accelerator pedal?

When it comes to auto tranny cooler. Bigger isn't always better. There is an optimal temp. range for the tranny to run in. On the accords its about 135-180 degrees f. give or take a few degrees. If it runs to cold it can wear out the cluth discs prematurly. To hot and avery body knows what happens. I took my external tranny cooler off after my temp would barely get above 125 degrees. When I race or drive really hard I'll just hook it back up. But I do have a tranny temp. gauge to moniter the temp.
As for torque converters. Level ten will modifie yours to about 3200rpm stall speed. Mine is working great no complaints. I also have there shift kit.
