Default Need some input from u CF hood owners

Well, i got my CF hood in today, and after some finnageling, i got it on, but the fitment isn't too great as u can see....any advice ? i'm going to try raising the rubber supports, and playing around with the flaps that hold the hood onto the car...any other advice/suggestions?

no it doesn't. you can practically see parts under the hood...

You should get a clearcoat on that. Hope that's not a Fiberimages, they usually have poor inspection grades.

yeah carlex applied a clear coat already....sorta good since airbone express totally killed the hood in delivery and theres scuff marks and scratches all over the place - for 73 bucks i expected more

take off the black rubber weather strip on the edge of your stock hood and attachs it to the CF hood to close the gap on the front sides..I use a jb weld

on your bay, there are two rubber stopper that can be turn clockwise to lower it or counter to raise it....I turned mine clockwise to lower it.

on the hinges area, I trim the original hole on the hinges using dremel and enlarged the holes towards the front, by pushing the hood mounting location a little towards the front, it'll lower the position of the hood around the hinges area.....

one more advice, DO NOT ALTER the mounting area of the hood. I tried to trim off the mounting area of the hood hoping it'll lower the area around the hinges, I stripped the nuts that hold the hood to the bolts, and ended up having to order a new nuts and applied 4 layers of fiberglass to get it fixed..making it even worse...

just play around the hinges to get it lower..

I have fiberimages too, I have seen about 5 FI hood on a teg, and none of them seems to have a perfect fit....I called FI and explain my problem, and their only response was, as quoted " we could never get the integra's hood to fit right "

but they did took care of me when I need a new sets of nuts to fix my hood..so that was really cool of them...

hope this helps, I'll be more than happy to help more if I can..

hey thanks a lot...we were trying to do it but it was getting cold, it was dark, and we said screw it...it stayed on at 105 mph fine so im not too worried about it flying, just about it looking nasty...this weekend is going to be some test and tune lol..thanks again

its just that sides above the fenders on each side dont sit right...everythingelse is fine..it wouldnt latch at first but we raised the locking mechanism a little higher..but i dont know why it sits above the fenders so high

as a last resort.... you can loosen or remove the body bolts along the top of the fender and actually push the fender in just a little bit. Every single car has small imperfections, this is an easy way to combat that.

Also, if the fender itself sits lower than the hood in some areas try adding a shim to raise the hood 1/16th or 1/8th of an inch or so on. Depending on the gap, this should be easy to remedy.... just watch the gap on your front bumper. Body shops have to do this constantly to hide their shi##y frame repair.

OEM means "Original Equipment Manufacturer" - or in other words they are made (probably not literally) by Honda/Acura. Talk to your parts guy at your local dealership...

Your just going to have to play around with the hood a little. Someome posted a pretty good explination a few post up. The fitment of those hoods are just very inconsistant. A lot of local customers and people they deal with directly at there shop get the better stuff. Such as racing teams or big orginizations.

move the hoodlatch down...all you have to do is elongate the holes in yer latch...then its a matter of fine tuning it..

I got a fiber images hood and it didnt fit well at all. It isnt for an ITR but it still took me and a friend about half the night to make it fit as good as it does now. And like in the first pic you can see down into the engine bay on mine also. Oh well I still like it.

it is the factory fog light kit...and it is actually a GSR, not an ITR..
