Default A big F*CK YOU to tire shops

so about 2 weeks ago i replace my tires with my new Falcon Ziex 512's, again. And i go to rotate my tires because im an **** person for only after 2 weeks and low and behold!

These lazy bastards and their over-powered super torque impact wrenches. They tightened my wheels waaaaaay too much and i go to take them off and here is the end result....

I even told them to use regular tire irons. With me and my superman strengh i knew they were gonna just break off. Since after the initial loosening of the lugs, they still were giving me problems. So this is for you shitty ***-holes.

Anyone know how to take thsese things off i can see that they hammer out of the hub/knuckle, but do i have to remove it from the axle. Its seems that when you hammer them out the length of the studs restricts them from just pulling out, i think. Need help asap.

I hate letting shops touch my wheels, they usually don't have the consideration that these aren't typical OEM or steelies so they treat it as just another part of their day. I once had a tire patched on my old rims at Goodyear and they didn't put any kind of towel or anything to protect the wheel from being rubbed on the machine. Low and behold when I get the wheel it has scratch markings on the polished lip. I told the manager she was like "we'll call around and see if we can get someone to refinish them." I knew it was a lost cause and she wasn't going to be calling me back so I said f-it. I hate people.

i cant drive the car cause they are right next to each other. If they were across from each other then i would take it to them.

On the back you should see where the stud comes out. Line up the stud and hit it hard with a good hammer the stud will fly out of the hub. After this get new studs and put it in to the hole where the stud goes. Now put a buch of washers and then a open end lug nut on after the washers. Now tighten the lugnut till it is snug and put a prybar or lond screw driver in between the other 2 studs and then tighten the lig with the washers on it will pull the stud all the way threw and into place.

Hope that is detail enough good luck

ok i hit the screws out but they are being held in by the knuckle/ back of the hub. Do i have to loosen the big axle bolt to take off the hub, i have never replaced an axle before so i dont know if that loosens the hub.

There should be a place in the knuckle to pull them out threw look behind and see if it is there. I work on Nissans and that is how they are set up. I never had a prob with either of my Integras. I don't think that axle rally needs to come out cause it would be a dumb design. hope that you find how to get them out. I have bang on several hubs never bent one yet. (not intinally banged on them just missed)

I had the same thing happen to me. 2 studs broken in half. Yes, you do have to take out the hub, and hammer the studs off.

While it is out, I suggest checking out your wheel bearings. Mine were all fucked. I just took the hub assembly to a shop w/ a hub press, and pressed out the bearing.

I've taken my last two sets of wheels (Volk TE37s and Enkei Rallys) to America's Tire/Discount Tire and they've been real good about not harming them. Not one scratch on them when I get them back, just a bit of tire grease...

What kind of lug nut seat do those wheels have? (is that a slipstream in the pic?...they use conical seat) If they're conical then you are using the wrong type of lug nuts. The acorn lugnuts on tapered seating will crossthread with or without using an impact. Hope everything works out... they should have known better and have let you known.

yeah they are slipstreams. I just got the Kyokugen lugs and that is part of the reason why i was taking them off and rotating. When i put on the original lug nuts i had no cross threading problem even when i tightened. But thats by hand not by gun. So when they did it by impact gun it must have cross threaded. Now i am stuck fixing it because there is no way my car can be moved without damaging my rim and the other 2 studs. I can't even get the big bolt off so i can remove the axle from the knuckle, i need my friends compressor and he is at work

This is exactly why I never let tire shops remove or install wheels on my car. I always put spares on and drive to the shop with the wheels in the trunk.

Of course, try to say this on some Integra boards and people treat you like you're being paranoid, or bashing blue-collar workers, etc. But here's the consequences clearly illustrated in these photos. Never trust those tire shop monkeys.

You have to have the hub pressed off to get the studs out. that also means that you have to get new wheel bearings, at around $75 each. If only one side has bad lugs, than you only need one bearing.

Don't be so quick to blame the tire shop. I've never seen this happen to any of my friends cars, but it happened to mine and I never had my lugs impacted on EVER. Only hand torqued. sometimes, the threads just get messed up or rusty. Get some anti-seize and put that on your studs from now on.

I goto members of forums in my area that work at tire shops. lol btw, a tire shop will replace broken studs for $50.00 for upto 5. If you goto a regular shop to fix broken studs, they will charge you for the time they spend on it, which will definitely be more than $50.00.

I don't know if you want to do that yourself, unless you have a slide hammer. You will most definitly damage the bearing without the correct tools.

i only use impact to remove fasteners and i always use a torque stick to fasten to spec. i dont care whose car i am working on. thats the way i was taught.

Geezuz christ.

i'll second the notion on Discount tire. They do a good job and haven't had problems with them yet.

Sux though dude, wish I had advice but I don't

Make sure they pay for the damages, and take it to court if need be. They should be responsible.

how far away is this tire place? I'd take it back up there, driven or towed, and play stupid, tell them it has driven funny since they worked on it. Then maybe you won't have to raise too much hell to get it fixed...
