Default Who's on Tein Basics??

Overall impressions? If anyone wants to suggest other alternatives please make them ones with same-function setup ie. full coilover, no dampening adj

I like mine. Much better than Neuspeed Race springs on stock struts, haha.

Are you speaking from personal experiance here? Because the Basic set-up is exactly the same as the SS, minus the adjustibility, and I dont see why anyone would rang on Tein SS, so maybe its the its too stiff... too lose? Please elaborate on your statement more.

Why would you be willing to spend 800+ dollars for some non adjustable coilovers just because they say Tien on them?? I'm not all that crazy about the SSs either. Ask vtecvoodoo, he has refused to even sell people the basics before. The CG/Yellow setup is less expensive, adjustable, and is a better setup. Does Tein have a lifetime warranty on their shocks??

i have gsr basic teins on my eg. its pretty damn stiff and an extreme upgrade from maxspeed coliovers and stock struts.
though, if i did it over i would get something with an adjustable dampening.

All depends on what Tein Basic coilovers you get and for what chassis. On a DA Integra, the Tein's are too stiff for the street but great for the track... the Koni/Tokico Illumina and GC's combo make the ride softer and better for the street. On an EK hatch, the Tein's had the better overall ride quality, IMO, over the Illuminas & GC's. In the EG hatch, they both felt soft but the Tein's were a little bit smoother and not as bouncy as if you tightened up the Illuminas w/GC's on there.

Each car application has its own spring rates and that makes a huge difference on how the car is going to feel and handle. And from my own experiences in different Honda cars with the Basics, regardless of what others say from what they "think" or "heard," I give them a for the price (if you get them for under 6 bills).

i've also heard that yellows + custom rate gc's are way better than the tein basic and tein ss coilover setup. I heard the rear springrates or something with the teins are way too soft.

anyday of the week.

I don't care what company you go with, damper adjustabilty is a must.

Basics is just a spring/shock combo, not a coilover by any means.

And for 800.....you could pick up a used set of Yellows for very cheap, get the shortened and revalved and they can handle 1000 lbs spring rates, and soime custom GC spring rates with the Koni adapters.....full coilover with limitless possiblities for the same, if not a little more than the Basics

ya it doesnt have to be a full coilover system , get some nice koni's and ground control coils , perfect setup.....me personaly wanted tein so i went for the flex's , which i love , but it seems like they might be out of your price range...

I Agree!! I've got the same for my sol... excellent street ride moderate or slammed ride hight (adjustable perch) and handles well on the track (shocks tightened up)

Well my local shop says 1400 for the basics (canadian) plus 15% tax. So that seems like way too much for me as it is. But at the same time, they want 550 for GC coils, and I think at least 700 for koni yellows. So either way I'll be spending way more then you americans, because I have to pay duty and shipping taxes for being on the 'wrong' side of the border (in this case at least...otherwise canada rocks )

I don't really want to purchase suspension parts used, because I have no way of knowing there state of functionality when buddy hands me the box of parts and I give him the cash and drive off, know what i mean? So i want to go new, and get good stuff.

Thanx for all the replys, like a canadian beer, more are always welcome

I've got my basics for 1200$ taxes in. AGX + GC were most expensive, so were yellow and GC, so i went for teins w/ integra rates.

You sir are incorrect and incorrect. $685 for my Tein basics. Koni yellows are $400 if you are lucky and Ground Controls are $300 if you are lucky. Plus the fact those aren't tuned to work together like my all in one Tein Basics. I got them because they offered just what I wanted for the best price. I don't need to be adjusting shock dampening. I wanted shocks that I know would work with the spring rates.

lol tein Basics at the track... you must be joking.

IMO Basic's and SS are made for street use ONLY.

Custom Springs and koni yellows are the best performance/price from street to full race (revalved Koni's)

Basic and SS are a quick solution for people than really do not know what they want from there car.
and getting integra rates for a civic is stupid!

300 if your LUCKY???? um i don't know who your order from but GC sells there basic coil over for 300 for civic and integra's.

and you could call them tell them you wanted GC and koni yellow's with there "koni yellow" sleve and im sure it would come out to no more then 800. i got my gc and AGX for 550. which are WAYYY better then tein basic's. and yes i have riding in and drivin a car with tein basic's. and even tein SS's i thought both of them were lacking in all area's. except ride comfort the basic road great but handled shitty. In fact my friend was so disapointed he sold the basic's got the SS's and was still disapointed. i thought the SS's were alot better then the basic's but i still say koni/gc gc/kyb is a better choice

Exactly. $300 if you are lucky. If you need Koni perches then it is going to cost you even more. My point was that Tein Basics ARE cheaper than Koni/Ground Controls especially if you want to get into custom spring rates. I NEVER said they will out perform them. This guy wanted a non adjustable shock setup for a good ride. I feel the Basics accomplish that.

I hate to tell you, but your wrong man. The one who posted above you was correct. My friend has gc/agx and he got it ALL brand new, and spent about $600-$650 shipping included. And this was back in June of 2003, so prices have most likely gone down.
