My new mod to protect my s2k and other parts added
Because i'm in the military i do long drive to visit my friends and family and things like rocks, sands, and flying kamakazi bugs destroyed my front end.
So i decided to look for some ways to protect my front end for s2k. After searching i found DAVE DEARRING @ SPEED FILM.
He owns a shop in Atlanta in Fayetteville.
I have been to many shops with my R since again i was in the military and didnt have place or the tools to work my R.
I have to say Dave was one of the best. His skill, knowledge on his work was Awesome. On top of that he was very kind and very friendly. You know what i take that back.. HE IS THE BEST.
I watched his work and i have to say it will be hard for you to make me go "WOW"
but i was just watching his very skillful hands and picking tiny hair and dust...picking things i cant even see
he wont stop working until you are 110% satisfied. I arrived at his shop at 1030 am and he finish right about 3:45 pm and for that entire period i was like
"WOW"
here are some pictures
going down south, passing downtown

Arrive at his shop

Lay out of Llumar film ...Life time warranty

Finish, can you guys tell????

I recommend you guys visit him and get your car protected.
He gives you great price and service. When he was using Stonguard, few customers were not satisfied so he paid out
of his own packet to refund them. He will do everything to make his customers happy and that is way it should be.

nice thread but we could have done without the downtown pics. the files were large enough as it is.
I hear folks using the film on the headlamps as well to protect the plastic. Did they guy comment on how well it lasts thorugh the summer heat and winter cold? there's a possibilty of it bubling if you park out in the sun.

They did an amazing job on that. Do you know if they cut the vinyl out on a plotter or did they just take it directly from a roll? I doubt it will bubble in the sun, its like any other vinyl but much much thicker.
I'm sure it wasn't cheap by any means but it is an investment to protect your investment. Its probably cheper then having your front end repainted a few times over the years. Its usually insured for 3-5 years or so.
Nate.

sorry for the size. i wanted to let you guys see the detail with a smaller pics i dont think you can. Llumar film that i used has life time warranty and if it turns yellow and or bubling occur then Dave will replace it for free.
far as the price goes, you going to have to call Dave since each cars are little different but he will give you good price. He even did S2000 with C-west front bumper and as all you know, it has many angles you have to work, but he did good job.

when the film or your car gets dirty, it is easier to clean off.
asking him and looking at his web site is the best way to go.

I've heard of one bad thing with Stoneguard and white cars, on the edges of your stoneguard the dirt slowly accumlates then you can see the lines. Do you see this happening at all?

The problem with the 3M on white cars is it will yellow at some point. It depends on how well the rest of the car is taken care of for the most part. In time the sun will turn the weatherstripping, windshield wipers, and even the tires on a car to turn grey, get brittle and eventually crack if not cared for.
As far as dirt getting on the edges, it can happen on any color, with any of the paint protection film. The first 24 to 48 hours after the install, edges that did not stick properly may come up exposing the adhesive. Dirt sticks to this area causing the edge to be very noticable. Since most folks need their car back as soon as possible, I will instruct the owners to look for any edges when they get home or before they leave in the car the next day. Any edge that has come up is dry by then and will easily stick back on the car. If it goes unnoticed, you get the dirt and the only way to get rid of that is replacement or the knife.
