GSR cluster questions!
Im thinking about putting a gsr cluster into a 89 si and i was wondering will the tach and speedometer still be accurante since the 89 stock cluster redlines at 6.5k and goes to 8k and the gsr redlines at 8k and goes all the way to 9.5k ? Same questions for the speedometer. Thanks!
Tach wil be as acurat as a factory tach will be. Just remember that doesnt raise the redline of whats under the hood at all. Same with speedo. Honda all use the same drives for the most part as I understand.
In regards to the tach, you could loose accuracy if you used a tach from a 6 cylinder car in a car with a 4 cylinder (which you are not).
As for the speedometer; as I understand it, you have to add the VSS sensor in place of the original speedometer cable. What would throw out the accuracy would be the over-all diameter of your wheels. Other than that, you should be OK.

I'm actually doing a 01 ITR cluster swap right now into my 91 DX.
Its looking fairly easy so far, as long as you know how to read pinouts, and be fairly sufficent at soldering.
Here is all the info you need to know...

Yep on the speedo you have to add in VSS, so you need VSS from another car and get the plug for it too off the harness of the car. It has 3 wires you have to run.
I'm doing this right now too with a 97 cluster it looks great mocked up, I counted the other day and I think there were only 16 wires to solder in all.

Of course! hehe.
And remember that the pinouts for the 88-89s ARE NOT THE SAME as the 90-91s. Just make sure you have the correct pinouts for your year.
