Default Project Tub-da-R (weight reduction.)

My autopower bar came Fri, so I decided to make some room for it to keep the R from becoming a piglet..

The homeboy Stern dropped by, to help me shed some pounds off the R. (the offroad EG in full effect!)

..sporting some ground clearance my Mom's durango is jealous of

complete w/the offroad fogs!

ahem...back to the info, sorry guys those pics were f-ing classic!

After working a lil magic..

The biggest weight reducer was that damn'd side impact beam. (you've probobly read mstewar's post, and saw Smit circle that thing w/the patented spray can )...here's what that bish really looks like. I'd say it's in the 40-50lb neigborhood not to mention all the damn bolts that fasten that thing down.

here is where it came from

The finished product

Afterwords, We made a quick trip to the dumps and got a weight of the R. ended up being 2345 w/out driver or passenger.

here's the rundown of reducers..and the setup.

1997 ITR
-no ac
-no rear wiper ('97 )
-Corbeau Forza Driver seat(w/5pt harness.)
-Corbeau A4 passenger seat (I think this may possibly be heavier than the OEM seat )
-Hawker Battery.
-JDM DC 4-1 header.
-Carsound Cat (2.5")
-Kteller 2.5" custom piping (2.5")
-magnaflow resonator. (2.5")
-T1R (muffler 2.5")
-stock wheels.
-205/50/15 visa vk tires.
-Koni Yellows
-GC coilovers.
-all rear interior removed.
-rear speakers removed.
-rear seat belts removed.
-center console removed.
-side impact bar removed.
-weighed w/1/4 tank of gas.

About to add....~50lb Autopower Race Bar pics of the install to come later this week

Big thanks to Stern for giving me a hand

Try taking out the bumper supports and the bar behind the dash. Then pull the power steering, A/C, and complete washer fluid assembly. After that, replace the hood with a carbon one. Then you should be well on your way to competing with Len.

Not too smart. Even WITH the rool bar. IMHO. 50 lbs isnt much when it could mean alot less injuries.

I was wondering the same.. w/out the rollbar I think it's a bad idea, however w/the race bar w/diagnal bar I think it will be fine.

Im trying to setup something w/my physics prof. to figure out if the rollbar could *theorectically* handle the load of the side impact.

Keep in mind the JDM/UKDM ITR do NOT have these

Mine weighs 2244 lbs w/o fuel. The Euro spec doesn't have the bumper impact bar either..

I always mess w/the local kids when they ask what my car is.

"RS w/5-lug."

Guess it turns out the R is really a pig

You can buy cars in Japan w/o airbags, too... whether that is a good idea or not is debatable.

This was the reason I used to justify removing my airbags as well.

You like that 4x4 civic don't you. I just barely bought it about a week ago. I had an Eg Si before and bought this cx instead. I took everything off my Si and put it on my cx except the springs so its a 4x4 off roader for now.
