Default Comptech B-series Race Header versus Stock (Dyno plots)

'00 B18C5
*AEM CAI
*Tanabe Super Racing Medallion
*chipped P28
*P/S omitted
*V-AFC

First run was with stock B18C5 USDM header and cat, second run was with Comptech Race Header and test pipe.

Same data from above, just shown in deltas form

As you can see, money well spent

everybody should plot/calculate delta plots.. those fat lines and large scales on the hp tq/rpm curve are tought to read accurately.. but damn.. a 20hp/tq gain around vtec?...

peak numbers are for bench racers, delta are the key....[dyno jet reads higher anyway......]

it seems to be in neeed of serious tuning

They show the actual change in power. Think of it as the zero horizontal axis represents the baseline numbers and you can read the difference in power on the Y-axis (vertical)

Hp Delta = Hp1 - Hp2

Thought I might add some more eye candy: The race header and race exhaust.

Seems like the heat shield might still fit there? Just in case...

Tell me about it, I've got one on my EG hatch, and I love it, but now it has a huge dent in it

All dyno plot #'s are relative, I'd figure after nearly 600 posts you would have been informed of this.

VTEC Point the same for both headers?

Why didn't you run a test pipe for the stock set up so we could see the differences with only one part item change versus 2? If you need one I have the test pipe used for the first header test that bolts to a usdm collector and has a 2-1/2" outlet.

I thought so.

OK, Jack now you really aren't comparing apples to apples. Almost all JDM headers will kick the stock header handily when the VTEC is lowered.

No other <$1000 header will along you to run sub 4300rpm x-over points. Area under the curve is key.

P.S. Don't hate the competition Dave.

While SMSP has a valid point, have we not seen what a Testpipe can do? How about plain jane tuning?

Clearly the header is offering gains beyond just replacing the testpipe.
