what topic says. would it be worth it to put on a b16a tb onto a y8 manifold?

 

I believe the Y8 throttle body is 56mm which is a couple mm smaller than the 1st gen B16A's. If the B16 T/B is available for a good price, I'd do it.

Yes, except for D16A6 intake manifolds, the bolt pattern is different.

now i have another question. i was just holding up the b16a TB and looking at the y8 TB. there seem to be 1 more sensor on the y8. anybody here has done one? can i see some picture? i was wondering where would that sensor go on a b16a tb.

 

That is the MAP sensor, it is just relocated on to the TB rather than the firewall.

 

thats the MAP sensor. the civic/crx is firewall mounted with a vacuum line from the MAP to the TB.

so if i take that map sensor off of the y8 tb..where do i mount it to? on the firewall? can i see some pictures if anyone has any? so how will i be doing this if i put on the b16a tb?

 

just extend the MAP sensor wires.

if the MAP is currently on the firewall...extend those wires to plug into the TB mounted MAP. in the picture you posted it looks as if you already have the wires extended for the Y8 TB.

im assuming you want to use the B16A TB that doesnt have the MAP mounted on it. if this is true then you will have to 1.) reinstall the factory (firewall mounted) MAP and run a vacuum line from it to the TB...look at the vacuum diagram under you hood if its still there. or 2.) install the TB mounted MAP from the Y8 onto the B16A TB...which may or may not be possible, as ive never tried it.

im using a 90-91 B18A1 TB (58mm) on my Y8 manifold. this TB uses the firewall mounted MAP just like the stock civic/crx TB. so all i had to do was run the vacuum line from the TB to the MAP just like stock.

i also have an extra B18A1 TB for sale if anyone is interested in a similar setup.

ok im scrolling up and down looking at my engine bay and looking at yours. i see that your vacuum line is going to the TB which i know i need to do. but what about that plug/sensor i circled..where should that go? do i just cut off that wire? i couldnt find it in your bay. sorry.

the sensor you circled is the MAP on the Y8 TB.

since the B16 TB doesnt have a MAP on it you you will use the stock firewall mounted MAP. run a vacuum line from the B16 TB to the firewall mounted MAP...also the wiring that is currently running to the Y8 TB MAP just needs to be plugged into the firewall mounted MAP. make sense?
