Default Quiet exhaust for 01 GSR?

I'm looking for a full cat-back exhaust for my car that's not loud. Haha it's like looking for a needle in a haystack huh? Anyone know any exhausts that aren't really loud but not hella quiet for gsr? thanks!

OEM ITR is decent. Just get the bottleneck removed and it's good. That's what I have and it's not loud. It lets out a little growl when u get on it, but nothin like my old N1. (OEM ITR catback w/bottleneck removed: for sale in a couple weeks )

What kind of application are you looking for? Any straight through design won't be quiet.

Anyway, I had the Apexi World Sport on my Integra and it was very quiet. Wasn't too flashy either. I heard that older versions of some RSR exhausts were also quiet.

Look for a chambered or twin-loop muffler.

Chambered is what your stock muffler is. As someone else suggested, the Type R muffler flows better than a GS-R muffler but sounds a little bit louder. Still very liveable. Comptech's exhaust is also chambered so that should be much quieter than a lot of cannister 'N1-style' mufflers.

Twin-loop is like the Mugen or Hytech muffler. These flow like cannister mufflers (the best) but are quiet like stock. The gas essentially passes through the muffler two times so you get a lot more sound deadening and absorption. Twin-loop mufflers tend to be expensive though.

No. Cannister mufflers are loud by design, stay away from those if you want something quiet.

The Fujitsubo is rather quiet if you don't get on it, but is also crazy expensive. I'd look into the APEXi World Sport.

GReddy SP, Apex'i WS, Comptech... all fairly quiet I think.

I've heard that the Hytech exhaust isn't too bad either. If I had the cash...

Which one gains more horsepower over stock - Greddy SP, Apexi WS, or RSR?

Those are all chambered, they are the same.

What modifications do you have? They might free up a few horses on top end.....not that much though.

Wow, I don't even know why I posted here.

I just got back from the dyno, and I saw that my 01 gsr with RSR Exmag made the same top end horsepower with or without the muffler on..

Made about 2 more TQ only 2 more HP from like 3000-5500, other than that the graphs were almost identical.

VERY big difference in the amount of annoying noise! Its like stock quiet at idle and a little deep at high RPM with this very high flowing muffler. I say

Comptech is pretty quiet, very bearble. I do not like loud exhaust, but wanted something that would still be heard, so i went with comptech. I am extremely pleased with my decision. It's a straight through. Someone stated that it was chambered, which is in correct. It has a nice growl to it when you give it a little more gas.

I am very pleased with the fit and finish on the Apexi catbacks. I personally have one on my maxima. On my teg, i run a thermal R&D stealth and it has a deeper than stock growl. at WOT it will get louder but never offensive.

TAKE IT from a fellow 01er i already search like crazy and came up with solution COMPTECH, that is the best exhaust for your setup. LOL then some H-T members slapped some sense into me and now I am in the process of saving up for a turbo.
So my real suggestion is SCREW THE EXHAUST SAVE FOR THE TURBO!!!
