sup guys, i know this is kind of a ghetto way to go about this, but anybody here doing that to their suspension? i got my straps wrapped around my Strut fork.. anybody else doing it differntly?
yeah, its ghetto, but we have done it as well. We dont call them straps though, we just call them "traction bars"!!!!!! Walmart traction bars work great!

Nah, we call wheelie bars, "traction bars"... because we sure arent in fear of popping a wheelie!

try explaining to a 7 year old why you have wheelie bars on your car, when he asks if the car pops wheelies... I tried, it didnt work...

haaha, where did you hook up the cables at on the lower control arm? or did yu weld somethign on to make it stay there, that sounds like a good idea using cable wire, haha,, damn im suprised that didnt tear out your front Strut towers
I just looped the cable... there is a spot on the LCA where there is like a thick nub, or rod, I cant think how to explain it, but there is a spot forward of the strut, where you can just loop the cable...
the strut towers have held up fine, no marks or anything... but I have been running wheelie bars for a while now, so that probably relieves some of the stress...

i was just thinking about this today. but i had thought about it to lower the back and put the straps on it holding them compressed or with lots of preload on them. the reason for doing this to the back? instead of lowering it and just leaving it with a stronger compression rate spring well i thought that maybe having the suspension compressed like that that the car wouldnt kick down in the back when it would take off, thus avoiding wheel spinn from that first harsh weight transfer of acceleration to the rear..
i'm no engineer or anything this is all just me sitting at my desk wondering off into lala carland. so i wouldnt advise anyone to go home and strap down your rear suspension. it probably doesnt do anything
but now that i read that you guys have been doing it in the front to minimize tire shake... damn i never thought of it but i'm sure it works great now that i think of it..

My setup is dismantled right now... and my digital camera is MIA... but if somebody could post a pic of the suspension, Id be happy to draw on it to show where I connect mine...
I have some idea where to strap it.............but I want to know the best place, cuz I am running Sunday!!!!

back in the day we had cables go from where the stock strut tower bar hooks on in a gsr (punched out the studs) down to under the shock fork..... went from 12.1 to 11.30s (this was in early 2000)
hey guys open up the chassis enginering book they have had them for sale for about 2 years now specially designed for fwd with pictures mounting points and sugested settings to help u out 59.99 for the kit
if i post a pic of an empyt engine bay will that work for u to draw where the straps are? or do u need a picture of the wheel off??
ya we tried these about mid 90s and it worked well, but at one point we decided to not run them like this for the fact that each side may not be necesarilly brought down evenly and can have an uneven spring rate. also I was afraid that if 1 side broke off.. would the car go wild to one side and send you hopping unevenly to the wall..
