Default D16Y8 in to EG with D13. Need advice.

HI!
I'm from Europe. I buy the D16Y8 engine with ECU-OBD2. Price: 350$.
Sadly no wiring on engine, no ignition key from car and it was with automatic transmision. That engine from EK Coupe from whitch comes from USA.

What kind of solution are for those problems. Especialy, we going to instal that engine in to Eg hatch who have now 1.3 carb engine.

1. Wiring from D16Z6 will be the way of wiring problem.
2. OBD-2 run without ignition key?
3. OBD-2 run wthout automatic transmision?
4. What kind problems will be more?

just dump the auto tranny & get a 5spd. what model & year are you putting it into? easiest way is to use matching ECU and wiring harness w/sensors.

So, we find the wiring harnes from D16Z6. The same but there is some differences. D16Y8 injectors not fit with D16Z6 conectors. And no knock sensor in D16Z6 wiring.

Is that D16Y8 engine runs with D16Z6 ECU? We have all D16Z6 wiring system with ECU conectors. We can buy the ECU too, but don't know run it or not.

Tomorow first pics.......of swap.

Um you may need to get an OBD2-1 wire harness and d16 engine wire harness and use a p28 if you wanted obd 1 ecu. Other wise just utilize your P2P. I have that setup, automatic d16y8. I don't mind it too much. Nice for daily driver.

u will need a manual d16y8 or z6 intake manifold. prefurably the y8 manifold because it will flow better. this will be needed to run your d16z6 ecu. also the d16z6 ecu is the one u want. u will also need an obd1 Distributor, one from a d16z6, 92-95 civic ex and si. or u will have to modify the d16y8 distrubutor to work with obd1.

I'll try:

You will need a complete D16Z6 engine harness.

You will need a 1992-1995 P28 ECU.

You will need a complete body harness from any 1992-1995 fuel injected Civic.

You will probably need the entire fuel system inclusing hard lines, fuel pump, maybe even the gas tank and sending unit from any fuel injected 1992-1995 there.

Use the D16Z6 engine harness on that D16Y8 engine.

You will also need to use injectors from a D16Z6 on the Y8 since you'll be using a Z6 engine harness.

You will need to keep your old alternator since the plugs are different, or swap out the voltage regulator from your old alternator into the D16Y8 one.

You will need to repin two wires on the Y8 distributor since the D16Z6 engine harness has two plugs.

Pics:

You are doing a very diffcult swap there. You are going from carbs to fuel injection, and that bascially requires swapping out the entire body harness and fuel system from a fuel injected Civic. I suggest you find a wrecked 1992-1995 fuel injected Civic and source all your parts from that.

Yes in the begining we are not imagine such a problems.
So, there is the parts what we have:

1. D16y8 engine ( allready instaled no problem with that, only little mods with stearing wheel pump mount on engine)

2. Complit OBD1 D16Z6 wiring harnes from engine till ECU and dash board( I will do some photo and post it.) Yes injectors not fit with conectors, we decaide to cut of those smal ribs from OBD2 injectors then they will fit.

3. Monday we will take of the gas tank, because we can buy a fuel injected gas tank with fuel pump and lines from D16Z6. Only what we don't know is this tank from SEDAN will fit on HATCH. If it not fit than we have big problems. ~80$ for those thinks on junkyard.

4. Thank's for info GUY's that will definetly help.

So, project in process, about what is hapening I will post every day. We hope to finish till next friday.

We trade today the old 1.3 ġas tank+ODB-2 to D16Z6 gas tank and all for fuel system necesery parts.

The sedan and hatch gas tanks are the same 1:1.

Today we found new problem in wiring. The alternator conector on 1.3 is different like D16Z6 wiring conector. 1.3 wiring have 2 cables and 1.6 wiring have 4 cables. We have all wiring schemes, but maybe some of you Guy's know what must be done in that case. We are jusing the 1.3 alternator in this swap.

1.3 have fuel pump in carb.

As I write before, we change all fuel system with tank and pump(all that from D16Z6 car) and put new fuel lines at gas tank and at engine. Under car fuel lines was Ok from 1.3 version.

For some reason we are decaide to make a little bit faster everything with some mini swaps. So, we swap under dashboard wiring, and intake manifold from D16Z6 with everything on it.

We have now D16Y8 engine (it was EG 1.3 carb before) with:

The stuff from is D16Z6:

All wiring
P28 chiped ECU
speedometer board( ËG 1.3 do not have chek engine light)
intake manifold
gas tank
fuel pump

We have original D16Y8 distributor. And our electric swap the mother conectors from D16Z6 to the D16Y8 (on that distributor only one conector and wiring have the same function, so it was easy)

To day this car will start to work.
