Afford better clamping force than stock bolts, and makes it harder to strip out the threads. also, do not stretch/deform plasticly like torque-to-yield-type bolts, so you can plastigauge to your heart's content and never worry that they'll let go w/high power or high rpm.
used once to plastigauge before i changed setup. never used in running engine.
