****I just went through this thread and added all new pictures, from the beginning of this build until the present. Its been a long 4 years and it's still nowhere near completion, but I guess that's the nature of the beast.****

*-clutch cover (my swap didnt have one)
*-new thermostat and radiator hoses
*-fluidyne radiator (for civic)
*-plug wires (oem)
*-rocket's modified spark plugs
*-ST Corsa cam gears
*-AEBS head studs
*-magnetic drain plugs for oil/and tranny
*-sent valve cover to pmpdesigns.com to have cut along with timing belt cover
*-top end gasket kit
*-bottom end gasket kit
*-distributor cap/rotor
*-timing belt kit (w/water pump & tensioner)

Import Builders sleeved the block (they sent it to Golden Eagle) with some 84.5mm 11.5:1 compression forged pistons and rods, and will also put in new bearings.

...and a stand alone fuel management system (Hondata s100), not a bad way to spend $4,000 hahaha (more or less)

Every paycheck gets me that much closer to my goal...and tax season is around the corner too...

 

UPDATE: The car finally passed smog and has its BAR sticker!!! And the engine was removed the other day, it will be disassembled later this week, and thats when I will order the flywheel pieces, since clutchmasters makes several models for the same thing, depending on the amount of screws on the face. The oil pan and the valve cover/timing belt cover will be mailed out later this week. Not much left to do now...

I cant wait. Stay posted to see the finished product.

Ok, well I have completed all the ordering, and the block is going into the shop as early as next week, its all crated up, just waiting for the crank pully and the flywheel plates to come in, and then its off. Hopefully it will be all put back together in less than 28 days...

Ok, quick news flash:

The block was dropped off at the shop yesterday, and hopefully it will be back in less than 3 weeks. Heres what is being done to it...

*-GE HD sleeves bored to 84.5mm, diamond honed
*-Wiseco 11.5:1 84.5mm pistons (coated skirts)
*-Ultralite I Beam rods
*-ARP rod bolts
*-new bearings, etc
*-balancing & blueprinting
*-decking & glass beading block

I'm flying home next friday and will be installing all the other stuff I bought, and getting it all ready for tuning it as soon as it gets here.

Heres what I am gonna buy next (as in next week, so it will get there about the same time I do):

*-PLX wideband
*-PLX narrow-wideband gauge converter
*-steel braided clutch line (had to re-order from techna-fit)
*-Skunk2 intake manifold
*-ITR throttle cable & bracket
*-water temperature gauge (mech)
*-fuel pressure gauge (on the fuel filter)
*-oil pressure gauge (in pillar) (mech)
*-air/fuel gauge (in pillar)
*-pillar mount for gauges

if your spending the money to sleeve it you need to put out some ******* power to make it worth while. if you wanna stay all motor port and polish the **** out of it and put in stage 3 cam and desent size injectors. or if you really wanna go fast, switch forums and go play with FI good luck

 

Well see, the problem is that I will be overseas with the car in Germany, and I am looking only for 180whp out of this setup right now. It will be all tuned before I ship it back to Germany, and I will save up money in a jar or something for the topend, but that will be done at a later date. I am taking my time and doing everything slow and right.

I do have bigger injectors, I have the whole fuel system upgraded, this car is ready for anything I throw at it in the future, except maybe the clutch, but I'm sure it will last for awhile with this setup, I will upgrade it when I add some major power with a fully built topend (and I think a stage 2 cam would be better for my compression and needs).

I am gonna keep THIS car N/A, but my next project when its finished will either be a rwd turbo car (maybe a Nissan) or an old muscle car.

sounds pretty solid. i dont know what kind of power you'll make w/ the stock top end. with good cams and tuning you could hit 200+ w/ a 2 litre motor

 

Just ordered all the stuf about 4 posts up, I cant wait to come home from Germany and start working on my car, I'm sure shes missed me...

I need to get this thing back to Germany asap, all I do is talk about the stuff I bought for my car, and people think I'm BS'ing, (they thought that when I first got my car too, when I said I was gonna get a swap, then I got it a week after I got the car) so I gotta show them that I dont BS when it comes to my car

So is there anything else that I have not thought of that I might need for tuning the motor and getting it running in tip top shape?

I think I can finally say that I have all the bases covered.

not sure but since ur replacing the oil pump why not pick a water pump as well?

edit: argh... Im blind I didnt notice the water pump being right next to the belts.

 

Hey Kutsuju, no man, you havent seen my ride, its still in the states, I was trying to bring it over to germany, but unfortunately since Importbuilders took FOREVER to build my block, I missed the deadline. So the cars still being built, but it will never see Nurburgring, Hockenheim, or just the good ol autobahn

But thats OK, because the day I found out it was too late was the day I bought a 91 CRX SI and the European model has the DOHC ZC in it so thats what I'm working on right now.

Since nothing was accomplished, here is what the car looks like currently:

It has been a LONG time since I last updated this project, but here is what is going on:

Last year I went home on leave, and while I was there the block was supposed to already be finished, however, the shop (Import Builders) took FOREVER and it wasn't back before I left. So nothing was accomplished (except that I got to ride my boys R6 haha). Fast forward to the present...I decided that since it is going to take so long I might as well make it so that I won't have to ever take the engine apart again in the near to distant future. The only way to make that work is that the head has to be done up too.

Here is the current list of things being purchased and work being done (well it will be done before the end of August):

*-port and polish head
*-mill head to make it perfectly flat
*-port and polish intake manifold
*-port match head and manifold
*-hot tank head
*-omnipower valves
*-3 angle valve job
*-oem valve guides
*-golden eagle modified headgasket

I am also upgrading the brake system:

*-integra front and rear brake swap
*-1" master cylinder, brake booster, and 40/40 proportioning valve
*-stainless steel brake lines (from techna-fit)
*-ate super blue fluid
*-speed bleeders
*-energy suspension bushing kit for integra

Now these brakes wont fit under stock 13's so I will have to buy wheels or spacers...

Now the problems...a few posts up, I said that I already had a stainless steel clutch line and a baffled oil pan, well apparently that's not the case so those will both have to be repurchased. The oil pan was returned unbaffled, and the clutch line was never sent. To make things worse, when the oil pan came back, it didn't come with my money order!!! I have also decided to try and sell my wheels, since I think I will never find another pair of them to match. By selling them now I can pick up some other wheels, but this time 4 of them.

Long post, but that is the current situation. BTW, the above mentioned CRX has since passed on, due to a blown head gasket amongst other things, what could have been fixed on a Saturday back home was made nearly impossible due to the conditions in which I live out here in Germany. Now I gotta get the hatch rolling again.

sounds good. have you decided what cams/header you're going to use yet?

 

I am pretty sure I will go with the Buddyclub III+ cams. I am after a nice midrange, and I think they will work perfect for this car. As for a header I dont know right now, definitely a 2.5" 4-2-1 with a 2.5" exhaust and hi-flow cat. But those are at the bottom of my priorities now...if only I won the lottery...

I have some pics of the finished block, and how it used to look, I will post some up soon, and I will have my buddy take more pics of the car and the piles of parts for it.

 

What about bearings? I would recommend coated ACL main and rod

 

With a 2.0 and all of that work I may try M22's or Pro1's on that set up. You'll have the great midrange plus....

 

Time for another update, as I just ordered everything that I will need for the motor to be put together. The head was finished this week, and my friend is going to pick it up this weekend, I will definitely post a flow-chart as soon as I can, along with pics of both the block and the head. The oil pan is the next thing on my list of things to-do, I will start looking for companies that will baffle oil pans.

It looks as though this project will be finished before the end of the year. Once the motor is assembled, it will need to be tuned (I will definitely post the dyno charts), and then shipped out to Germany. I chose to finish out my military contract here in Darmstadt (rather than let Uncle Sam choose to send me somewhere), so I will not be back to the states until July 2007, and I am gonna need a car.

I will keep updating this post as new things happen. I appreciate everyone's comments and advice.

UPDATE: OK, so I just got back to Germany. I've been back home in the states the past few weeks, which was well spent might I add. Pretty much nothing had been done to the car, but the head was finished and it looked really nice, hopefully it will perform just as well, all of my friends are pleased with the way it came out. Unfortunately I do not have any pics of the head, and my friend never got a flow chart with it, so its too late for that.

When I was home, me and some friends went to town on the motor and started putting it all together. We almost finished, but we were unable to continue because my friend misplaced the parts of the head that hold the cams in, so we could not put the cams in. Its a shame because everything else is done, once the parts are found, it will take around an hour to finish the block up and start putting it back into the car. I will be sticking with stock cams for now, and maybe in the next few years I will buy some cams, but right now they are looking pretty expensive, especially when I still have several hundred dollars to spend on other things just to get it running.

As for the oil pan, I have decided to give up on that as well, maybe in the future I will look into buying one of those Moroso pans, but for now the stock cams will do just fine. I should be receiving the CARB EO sticker from Skunk2 sometime next week, so then everything should look legit at least.

Hoepfully someone will buy my rims for $500, so that I will be able to use that money to pick up a set of rims and tires. They wont be Racing Harts, but at least they will go over my brakes. As for the brakes, I just bought the brake booster, master cylinder, and 40/40 proportioning valve from someone on this site, so that should be here next week or so.

There is not much left to buy for the engine. Cams and valvetrain would be nice, but there are many other things needed. Such as Hondata and tuning, wheels and tires, coilovers, traction bars, sway bars, tie and strut bars, etc.
