Default Lifters clogged???

I just recently took my car to the dealership to get it checked out because I hear this clicking noise comming from the engine.

I thought I had over reved my motor; so, I got valves checked and adjusted by the dealership and they told me that every thing is fine.

Pull outta of the dealership and pull to the side of the road and still hear the clicking sound.

So, I take it to another local machanic shop ( honda and acura specialists) and let them hear the motor. They say that the motor sound fine and the clicking noise is normal for a honda engine.

Today at work i spoke to this guy who used to be a mechanic and he says that from what he knows and has heard; he has reason to believe that one of my lifters is clogged. He belives that this is the reason my engine makes a clicking noise.

Can clogged lifters make a clicking noise?????

Should I take it back to the dealership and have them take a look at it????

dac8555 is %100 right, hondas don't have lifters we have rocker arms. Your buddy is definitly use to working on domestic cars.

And that clicking noise could just be the valves (all honda have alittle ticking), but if its kinda random (almost sounds like the clicking is gets loud then fades in and out) and the click is alittle more prominent, then i would say check your Lost motion assembly (LMA's).

to be honest, if you dont know what lifters are, i wouldnt unless you have a good service manual like a Helms.

I don't think you would be able to make this a DIY job. You have to remove some of the heads internals just to get to the LMA's. The lost motion assembly is what absorbs the middle rocker arm (the vtec lobes rocker arm) moving up and down while vtec is not engaged.

Good luck on DIY if you decide to do that, but if you have never done any head work(personally it doesn't sound like you have, considering you didn't know what lifters were), i would highly advise not doing it yourself and going to the dealership. But i would definitly look into it.

What year is your car? because LMA noises don't really come until higher mileage or ******* the car on a daily basis (which alot of H-T guys enjoy doing).
