HELP car won't start after turbo install?
The car cranks but it won't start. The fuel pump turns on. I can smell fuel, but don't see a fuel leak. Heres the setup. turbo, mani, etc...
450 DSM injectors, resistor box, SMC.
What could be some reasons? could it be bad injectors? bad resistor box? cloged oil line(i hope this can't be a case)? what should i check for?
I wired the resistor box correctly I hope, checked for continuity then wired the ones on cap side to red, and other sides to balck.
SMC seems to be working correctly, status light is on, and settings got saved.
New news: lights come on(oil pressure, and others),
if i crank it longer, which i did once, it sound like it was about to start, and bogging, but saw white smoke come out, so i turn its off, but i don't think it started.
Injector clips are in and tight, i wired it stripes with stripes, solid with soild. I soldered all wires and taped them also.
SMC was set at 30 on idle, but i was told to change it since i smelled fuel, so i changed it to 40, still no luck.

no, but i hacked up a old filter and covered it, kinda using it like a mesh filter. i pray that its not my ecu, how can i check to confirm my ecu is not fried?

To confirm a dead ecu, check:
1. 15A fuse under hood @ fuse box (labeled "back-up")
2. 80A screw-in fuse under hood @ fuse box
3. once key is in "on" position the gauge cluster warning lights should still light up
4. replace your ecu with a buddy's ecu

If you have fuel and the pump is working then i would move on to checking that resistor box. I would also look into the connections to the injectors, you kno wlike making sure the clips are on tight, you put the right clip on the right injector, and i would check the connection to the resistor box. Maybe if you had to cut the wires then one might have came loose. Does the car sound like its even making an attemp to start....or just the normal starter cranking noise?
help please, any other ideas, i'm so clueless now. So could it be cloged oil lines? maybe its flooded with fuel? where is the pgm-fi fuse located?

i think i've flooded the engine with fuel, spark plugs were black when i took them out. I'm going to get new plugs and try later it later on the week, cause i have to order the plugs. But could there be another reason? and what should i set the SMC at for idle with the new plugs?
I've found 2 ways to deal with too much fuel flooded in the engine.
1. Remove spark plugs and crank over about 7 times, then reinstall and try to start.
2. Remove PGM-FI fuse, crank over to get excess fuel out and replace fuse and try to start.
Should the 2nd one work better since its not add more fuel in there? Is the PGM-FI fuse under the hood, in the fuse box, top left fuse, 15A ECU fuse?

i had the same problem. and it ended up being one of my ground wires had come lose.
the engine would turn over but just not start. if i had the hood shut it would start. if i had the hood poped it would not. i almost killed myself trying to figure that one out..

So your telling me i can't start the car with the hood open? Well i'm not totally sure i'm getting spark, but i didn't do anything excpet remove the msd coil wire while trying to prime the feed line. Then i just hooked the coil wire back on and tried to start it but it didn't start. When i took out the spark plugs they were all black on the tip.

Get a sparkplug tester(basicially a grounded plug) and crank the engine- you should see the sparkplug arc. Start from there...

damn it, tried new spark plugs, still won't start. Tried holding pedal down and still won't start. When i take plugs out, they are a little bit wet. How can i check to see that my injectors aren't fucxed and that its not the problem? I know it could be the batter, but if the interior lights can stay on and not dim out my battery should be fine right?
wtf could be wrong, everything was fine before the turbo install. It should not be the dis cap, rotor, spark plug wires, ecu, fuel pump.
I just had the same exact problem, your plugs are probably fouled and your ECU is in safe mode. Your going to have to lean it out with an AF controller or something like that and reset your ECU
tried it, my plugs were black, got new ones. tried settings at -20, -30, -40. still not started. when i unpluged the injector clips, it seemed as if it was about to turn over. Each time i tried i took plugs out to look at them. Most of the time plugs 123 were a little bit wet from gas, and the 4 one smelled like gas but no visual signs (standing in front or car from left to right). Still don't know how to fix this problem
Have you confirmed your getting SPARK? You can have all the fuel in the world, with nothing to ignite it, your not going anywhere.
i assume i have spark, since my old plugs did turn black, they were brownish before. So i got new spark plugs, these didn't turn black, in fact they didn't change much. But i am going to get a sparkplug tester when the store opens tomorrow
it did kind of turn over with the injector clips unpluged. wasn't trying to start it, i thought i flooded the engine with fuel so i was trying to clean it out. cranked it and very fast, like a regular start up, it bogged, then i cutted it off, cause i didn't know was it suppose to do that.

take off ur distributor cap and make sure the rotor is still on tight...my screw either broke off or unscrew itself the other day, just fixed the problem last night!
but yea check ur distributor..
but yea check ur distributor..
I had the same type of problem with my EX and it ended up being a bad ignition coil. Exact same symptoms so if i were you i would check the coil in the distributor or if you have an external coil i would check that. No coil spark no start. I can bet my life on it that you are having an ignition problem so i would go through all the motions to make sure you are having a good spark coming out of those plugs and i would check to make sure you have the plug wires on in the correct order on the distributor cap.
I think your running so rich its probably just spraying fuel all over the plugs and not firing. Could be the coild though I guess, there shouldn't be fuel on your plugs so your definatly running too rich
