adjusting ground-controls
i just finished installing my ground control coilovers with koni shocks on my 90 crx si. i didnt receive a tool to turn the adjuster to raise/lower the car, but i was told i could do it by hand if i jacked the car up to relieve the weight on the suspension. well after installing the shock/coilover combo, and loosening the allen key nut on the adjuster, i could not budge the adjuster. is there something im missing here?
thanks

yea the allen is almost out completely. i dont think i have any rocks on the sleeves cuz i just installed them brand new. why the heck is it so hard to turn? should i grease up the threads on the sleeve?
Did you jack just one corner or the whole end of the car? If you have swaybars, that will compress the springs on the corner that's jacked up since the other corner is compressed.
With both corners off the ground, you're relieving the stress from the sway bar.

Both sets of G/C that I"ve owned didn't come with a spanner wrench, you should be able to do it by hand, or stick the allen wrench into the screw and turn the sleeve with the allen wrench.

well, if you are trying to raise the perch so high with the spring already compressed, then yeah, youre not going to be able to raise it any higher with just your hands. what i do if i need to raise it past the spring compression point is stick a wrench so that it rests on the top of the sleeve, then push up so that it pushed up one coil of the spring. it should relieve just enough pressure to thread it up a bit at a time. having an extra set of hands helps.
i dont really see any way to install it wrong so that its so hard to move, but its understandable that its harder to thread up when you have the spring pressing down.

I had the spanner wrench, but couldn't physically turn my perch after a certain point to increase my ride height enough, even with the car jacked up. This is what worked for me:
Jack up car, put on jack stands. Take jack, put under LCA & compress whatever corner.
Remove top nut from shock, and lower jack just enough to take tension off that spring. Raise adjustable perch.
It took a few tries to get the ride height where I wanted, but it took less time for me to do it this way than to fight it.
Spraying WD-40 on the land of the perch & also the rubber isolator under the upper mount will allow the spring to turn instead of bind when turning the perch - as long as the sleeve doesn't turn as well, you're set.
