Default my so far poor experience with buying a crx ( mastakilla's crx)

Ok first off, I hate the idea of making a post like this but since a resolution has not been established otherwise... here goes.

Early December I noticed an ad for a rust free crx for sale in the cars for sale forum, HERE I was interested so I contacted the seller, mastakilla. We arranged a deal for the car for $600 in which I would have the car shipped up later that month, I think the 21st, from Maryland to here in ny. Before making this deal I asked many questions as one would about the car, my MAIN concern being the integrity of the shell. Mastakilla assured me that the car was rust free and the body aside from two dents was in great shape. I was so concerned with getting complete and accurate information that I even sent him a blue print diagram(from the helm manual) to have him point out any and all damage to the "shell". he returned this diagram pointing out the two dents in the body he mentioned to me previously and with this info I felt confident the body was in good condition. Even though there was a substantial amount of damage to the car that did not affect the integrity of the shell(burnt clutch, broken windshield, fubared suspension, ghetto rigged ignition, and a semi gutted interior) I thought as long as the shell was straight and rust free it would be worth my time to get it as I have two other crxs and plenty of parts. the deal was on, the 600 smackers was paypaled to mastakilla and the car was picked up a few days later than the 21st deadline due to the trucking company having a problem. The car arrived in NY 1/3/04 and needless to say I was very displeased at what I found. Not only did this crx have rust, but a whole lot more damage that was deceived to me. Since then I have responded to mastakilla, first alerting him to my disappointment and then, after receiving a vague denial of the situation, I sent pictures and a recap of our agreement along with a request for partial reimbursement($200) of the $800+ dollars I spent on a car I never would have gotten. Since then I have heard nothing for about 4 days now. This action by posting here may seem premature but up until this point I have talked to him online nearly everyday. I am doing this in hopes of a respectable end to this unfortunate situation and so we can both move on. thanks for the space.

Here are some pics of the damage that i was not informed of:

Door catch rusted so bad it has ripped off the car, door feels like its going to fall off.

RUST! (passenger side rear quarter)

driverside rear quarter, more rust!

passenger side front fender, no damage was mentioned.

scraped

and dented

Mastakilla please contact me

That sucks that the seller was not fully honest in his disclosure of the body condition, especially since you made it extremely clear what you wanted and asked all the right questions.

However being only a 4 or 5 hour drive from where you are located, I would have driven down there to check it out personally. And you could have possibily towed it back up with a 1 way Uhual which would have been much cheaper than shipping it.

Having paid a lot more than I should have for mine-I understand your disappointment. What makes it worse is that he ran his ad on this board. I know that mine came to me from the original selling dealer (have the paperwork), and they sold it "AS IS WHERE IS" and 600 miles from home. I payed to have some work done to make sure it would be safe to drive that far and they failed to do everything. Got home and found a huge tranny leak (lost half the oil).
Buying a car in Charlotte is no guarantee that it will be perfect, but a much safer investment compared to Maryland. Our problem was that no one informed us that the car had serious hail damage. That alone made the car worth almost $1000 less. The bodywork you see in the avatar includes smoothing a numberof tiny dents-the panels are original to the car except the hood and roof (reskinned per SCCA GCR).

Yes I feel for you and hope that the seller will do something for you. Good luck restoring the car.

I would be more pissed off that he said there was no rust and there is rust, but it is a really crappy fix job on top of the rust. Like someone just covered it with bondo and did no real work in attempting to take the rust off.

$600 for a rust free CRX?

That should have been your first clue.

um, that doesnt give him the right to lie about a product...thats ubber bullshit...the only reason why waylon bought the car was because he said rust free...dont try and make it out like waylon is the bad guy here, because the car was $600 plus $200 for shipping...**** he wouldnt have even considered the car if the owner was up front with him...waylon deserves some of the money back...**** you guys who think different...

thats true, the ad itself was named rust free in the topic which is a main factor in purchasing a crx shell. Sorry, but you got raped on the buy.
