Default So how many of us have messed up blower controls?

I've heard many people say their #1 postion, or #2 postion on the blower speed doesn't do anything, or the speed never changes no matter what you do. It might just be me but I noticed today my #2 doesn't do much anymore where before it did. I think my heating system is in need of an overhaul. Helms has a big list of things to test for. I think I might do that tomorrow and maybe scan in those pages if any of you would like to fix yours also.

If the fan does work on certain speeds, check the blower resistor
located behind the glovebox;
take out the two screws and check the coils,

All you have to do with the resistor is test for continuity between prongs 2 and 4.

My mulimeter is at work though, maybe I will pick it up after school tomorrow.

I'm having problems with the vent controls more so than the blower controls. My blower controls are sticky when it's cold but when it warms up they seem fine. I guess the previous owner liked to over use Armor All

I checked all my heater stuff today and adjusted all the cables.

I ohmed out my resistor on 2 & 4 and it showed no continuity. So my problem is probably that. I tested the switch also and it was good. So I'll go get a resistor at the junkyard or maybe order a new one if they are cheap enough.

dont even botehr getting one from a civic if its too much troubel to find one.

I just grabbed one from an accord and soldered the coils back on.....if you dont have a strong soldering iron you`ll have to use a butane torch tho, as the metal is quite thick guage.

Actually they are only $21 from hondaautomotiveparts.com

Thats better than a junkyard one since it is brand new you know it is going to work for another 15 years.

mine doesnt work on #1 but it feels like the switch is broke or something, it just slides easily to #2, is anybody elses like that?

all my push buttons work good, the **** for the slider is off *i have it* and the turn **** is cracked and pushed in *common problems

the defroster is a panzy when its freezing outside the car fogs up and the defroster slowly but surely blowes out the door vents, the rear side windows are always fogged, my rear defroster works the best

mine is so broken. i don't know what the problem with mine is because i put a new motor in when i got it because the motor was bad and it has always not worked on one or 2 so maybe it can be the switch sometimes too.
