HONDA CHALLENGE DRIVER LICENSING **UPDATE**
Yo! You think yo have the mAd sKiLls to drive a Race kaa? You want to drive NOW 'cause you know all there is to know 'bout drivin'. You too busy (or too lazy) to look on the NASA web site to find out the rules?
This thread is for you - mAd sKilLs, half built race car, no rule book and most importantly your time is to valuable to read rules.
First of all, don't look anywhere else, except the official NASA website. There is a lot of old junk, some of which was written by me, which is outdated, superceded, replaced, spelled wrong, misinterpreted, and outright old and ugly. You will find it on some old web pages floating in web hyperspace. IT IS JUNK.
ANY REFERENCE TO NASA LICENSING SHOULD BE REFERRED TO THE CURRENT NASA CCR.
ANY REFERENCE TO NASA LICENSING INCLUDING ANY POSTED ON ANY WEB SITE IS PROBABLY OUTDATED AND SHOULD BE REMOVED.
The current NASA CCR is available online at
http://www.nasaproracing.com
BUT I PROMISED YOU LAZY FOLKS, here is the 2003 CCR. Use it as a guide until the 2004 is available. This is good stuff. Prior racing experience is always considered, regardless of racing sanction. If you have mAd SkiLls from somewhere else cOOl.
13.0 NASA PROVISIONAL LICENSE
13.1 Issuance of a NASA Provisional License
NASA Provisional Licenses are issued from the NASA Regional Office, and are only

13.1.5 Provisional Licenses Completion:
Once a driver has been issued a Provisional License, he/she will only be allowed to
compete in those events hosted by the Region of issuance. Each time a Provisional
License holder completes a race without incident, he/she must obtain the signature of the Race Director, or his/her appointee. Once four races have been signed off, the Provisional License is complete, and may be submitted along with the other equirements as listed in the section “Issuance of s NASA Competition License” to obtain a Competition License.
13.2 Rookie Status
Any NASA Provisional License holder is defined as a “Rookie,” and will remain so until
they have finished eight (8) races without significant incident. Additionally, the Race
Director may place any driver on Rookie status. Rookie status is simply a designation,
and implies no punitive reflections or consequences. A Provisional License holder that
fulfills the requirements, and receives a competition license, may still carry the “R”
title, as defined by this section. A driver on Rookie status must comply with all of the
following (sections 13.2.1 and 13.2.2).
13.2.1 Rookie Marks
The driver must display the letter “R” (legibly) next to their car numbers on each side,

only be removed with the permission of the Race Director (or appointee).

Drivers with less than eight (8) races must mark the rear of their vehicle with a bright
orange mark. The mark must be clearly visible to other cars while on track and shall be
at least forty-eight (48) square inches. The Rookie plate may be removed with the
approval of the Race Director after the driver has finished eight (8) races without
significant incident.

sponsor, or affiliate.
2. Violating any safety rule found in CCR.
3. Unsportsmanlike conduct.
4. Disobeying a direct order from a NASA Official.
