Default Whats best air-intake?

Hey guys I have a 2000 EX Civic and I was wondering whats the best air intake for a fairly cheap price. I'm not a racer, I just want an intake. Also, another question, should I leave my orginal piping with my new intake? I've HEARD that the plastic piping is actully better at keep air cooler etc etc. Any input?

well look at my sig and don't get that one if you come across it. AEM, INJEN, COmptech are all good intakes go w/ either one.

Best upgrade for the money would either be an ebay ram or K&N cone filter. In my opinion an AEM or other comparable brand are not worth the money.

The ebay rams seem to be pretty good. My filter got a hole burned in it, but just gives me an excuse to buy a k&n or something now. The Fake J's racing also seem to have good reviews.
As far as temp goes, I think your a lot better off getting a plastic IM gasket than worrying about your intake piping material. I think the fake J's are plastic though, so that'll help.

how bout one thats functional.

Any brand should suffice as long as it fits your car ....

you can always buy a cheap set up and then go buy a K&N filter if ya want.
but even filters are all pretty much the same.

I have never heard of a plastic intake???

AEM's are cool if you like hydrolocking your motor.

Short ram pipe + Stock Airbox + K&N Drop-in

all depends on the type of money you want to spend. Mugen, spoon, several high end companies make proven hp gains with some of their intakes. Word to the wise: all of these systems are great, but they are all coldboxes, just like your OEM box. Why not just modify your box with a better filter and a little bigger piping.

just simply remove the lower part of the airbox resonator, and place a CAI extension with filter there.

Or just an extension and a K&N drop in filter.

That way it looks stock but provides some power.

Or you can just make your own and stick some random $5 cone filter on thurr.
(hey..you said you weren't looking for high-performance; just any intake.)

Spoon doesnt make a "intake system" just a drop in filter.

Mugen's intake system is very expensive but outperforms each and every other type of intake..but for about $800 i think there are better things to buy

AEM CAI and a filter on a stick all useless. Did a test on my motor in my car, compared the J's racing (real one not a fake one) the AEM CAI and the stock airbox. Needless to say the AEM CAI made less power then the other 2, even the stock. the J's was about 7hp more than all others, and the stock made about 3 more than the AEM, not to mention the AEM has a DISGUSTING dip right before vtec.

If you want the loud vtec sound of the AEM its worth it, but for power.....sucks. Im not the only one who has done something like this, 'SGT" also did the same test and came out with the same results.

i have also heard that the aem sucks on itrs. You won't lose power on a d16y8 with one though.

I ran the AEM ITR CAI on my y7 for a while. I liked it and it sat down LOW and I never had any trouble with it (not even with the fenderlining all gone from hitting a deer).

Any intake by itself isn't going to do much, the whole I/H/E should be upgraded to really get any worthwhile gains.

I like AEM because they are **** about giving you all the holes for sensors and tubes for the crankcase breather and whatnot. Everything you need is there, and I think thats worth the extra money. If you have an OBDII car and get an ebay intake, bet you anything that it doesn't come with the hole for the air sensor or crankcase breather.

But if you're cheap, here ya go: http://www.teamdelsol.com/tech...t.asp

I personally like the intakes with an intercooler and turbo on the other end
