GTech impressions.
My friend just got a GTECH Pro a few days ago and we have been testing it out. Needless to say I am very impressed for the price of the object. With him in the car I was pulling 15.0-15.1 1/4s. Once I learned how to use it I did it without him in the car. I had an awesome launch and was able to get a 6.13 0-60mph with a 14.67@100.8mph. I fiquered the ET was pretty close, but that trap speed is a little on the high side. We then tested 0-60 braking. I netted a 117ft stopping distance, which is about right. The biggest surprise though was the HP measurement. I was very skeptical of it at first until we tried it out. It measures it in WHP and states that it shows a few percent lower than it would on a dyno. I netted 160whp, which is almost exactly what it should be. We also tested a 98' LS1 automatic transam and got 285whp which is also very close. It ran 14.2-14.5@ 106-108mph range. If you take the time to make sure you level it at 0.00 it seems to be very accurate for such an easy to use device. Overall I am impressed.

The GTech is actually pretty accurate. I have taken it to the strip with me and it was consistently within .1 sec (which is exactly what Gtech claims). The MPH is always higher of course, b/c it tells you the speed at the END of the 1/4 rather than the avg of the last 60 ft.

Wheelspin has nothing to do with what the G-tech reads. It's an accelerometer, which measures acceleration. It doesn't read wheel speed, which is the only way wheelspin would skew the results.

hehe....the G-Tech works by using math and stuff.
now, what would be really hardcore, is if you could navigate a road course in a car with no windows using a stopwatch and the speedometer...hunt for red october style!

acceleration = distance/time
Knowing the time and acceleration you can easily solve for distance.

what about the blitz power meter? that things gives you an hp graph and has memory for the last few runs. Of course install isn't as fast as plugging into the cig lighter tho. it's on sale at groupbuycenter for 215 if anyone's interested tho.

Re: GTech impressions. (R spec)
I have my gtech for a couple of years now and on occasion take it to the dragstrip with me. It has always been with in a tenth of a second (.1) but the trap speed is usually 2-4mph high. The only time it has problems is if the car starts to wheel hop. That when the readings are not acurate.

Re: GTech impressions.
For "well tuned" suspensions on the ITR's, putting the level at 0.0 will yield accurate ET's; however, jelly suspensions will cause the car to tilt when it's accelerating, thus producing inaccurate readings (faster since it's tilted upwards).
For stock suspensions, it's good to level the GTech at -1.0 or -2.0 to offset the suspension movement.
