The turbo list(links) for the-do-it-yourself-type of person... ZC/D-Series.
I've answered a lot of questions lately about the "homemade" turbo setup in my CRX. So to make it easier for anybody going that route, I'm posting a small list of links and tech articles to make it easier for everyone.
Note: this is for EF with D-series motors. After you have gone "mpfi".
I know about "homemadeturbo.com" but sometimes(like now) the site doesn't work. So here's a list of parts needed, links, and some tech to help you out...
First lets talk manifolds.
As some of you know, Honda has a simple manifold that can be used(with adapter plate-we'll talk about that later
) for a turbo application. This are the HX, CX, DX(sometimes) manifolds. These are the manifolds that connect to the catalytic converter right in front of your block.(If there's more please post
)
No this manifolds are not gonna give you the same amount of airflow(bling) as some brand-name unit,s but you either have it or can get it cheap at a junkyard... and they get the job done. Expect to pay about 20-35$ for one, don't pay anymore than that, walk out and take your money with you...

Second lets talk about the turbo.
Some of the best turbos for the "small" ZC/D-series motors come from the DSM guys. The TDo5(14B), T25, T28.. these are all really good turbo to start with, for a low budget setup. These turbo can easily put down 200whp, which is more than what the factory rods will like
Expect to pay between 100$-175$ depending on the condition of the turbo. Please don't pay more than that... we are on a budget here!

These are a couple of links where you can search for the turbo you want, at a price you can afford. Talk to the seller, give'em your price... they WANT/NEED your money!
Third-Adapter plates/Downpipe pltes
To make the Honda manifolds fit your turbo you'll need some kind of adapter plate. They'll connect one to the other. Is that simple. Then use the factory gaskets to seal everything properly... You'll also need a plate for the downpipe/wastegate.(Some turbos only-ie 14B)

The only link I have is actually a phone/address from the place I bought mines.

He's the man when it comes to making these units. I'm not going to tell you how much I paid for mines because the prices may change. So just give him a call or email him with any ?'s.
Now we go for the fuel.
There's a lot of ways you can go with the fuel system. I'm only gonna give you my way(cheap/reliable) and you can do as you want.
*DSM 450cc injectors.(easy swap, just shave off some rubber on the factory seals) Espect to pay 50-110$ for used ones.
*DSM Fuel pump(straight swap) 98$-AutoZone(lifetime warranty)
AFC2 Hack.
The most expensive part is gonna be the Apex S-AFC/2 unit. They run for about 300-350$ brand new. With a guarantee. Or anywhere between 100-175$ used.
Yes you can use a fuel pressure increaser, that will increase the amount of fuel as the rpm's go up, but I have heard a couple of bad things about them. The Apex AFC/2 is a really simple controller to use, plus the quality/warranty is explendid.

Now for some cooling...
Unless you want to pic the internals from the pavement, you need to get some kind of cooling system. There different types but I'm talking about my setup. I used a http://www.johnnyracecar.com front mount intercooler(FMIC). This unit is cheap(@230$ shipped) and can easily(sic) hold the amount of pressure coming off the turbo. Yes you can use a Starion/Conquest/Supra/Volvo/Audi unit. If you have it, use it... we gotta save money here...
The unit looks great, and gets the job done. For a lot cheaper than a brandname unit.

http://www.ebay.com Search for "FMIC" or "Honda turbo".
Charge Pipes.
The charge pipes can easily be custom made if you have the right tools.(pretty much anything that can cut metal) Try giving http://www.summitracing.com a call. They have all the charge pipes you need at a decent price.
Blow Off Valve(BOV)
Any BOv will do. As long as you have it connected to charge pipe right.

Beside thsi items you'll need the oil/coolant lines. Check your local hardware store for fuel/pressure lines. They are cheap and reliable. Or you can go the safer way with the stainles steel(SS) lines. Talk to "flamenco-t" in the site. He got the hook ups...
This is pretty much it. All newcomers to the turbo side can look here and ge some ideas/pricing on the items they need.
Good luck with your setup.
Happy Boosting
PS: Anything I missed feel free to add. I was just bored and decided to write this down. Thanks in advance. No I'm not a turbo genious, but my car is running great and it really wasn't that hard to do.
Feel fre to ask any ?'s, if I can't answer them, someone will... thhat what H-T is her for... Help!

we gotta make this a sticky
now can i add that if u really going the home made style u can also get the MSD 6 BTM that way u can retard some timing/per pd of boost.....
u can get also a FMU, like the vortech that is about 140 for the 12:1.......
i would not really like the stock 42 psi of the honda FPR... i would at least want 60 psi , even when i have the 450cc injectors....
what i would like to have someone add, is the kind of engine and fuel management u guys recomend or have for the OBDO cars......
