Default Dseries tranny ? eliminate Torque steer?

ok im rebuilding my d16z6 and im shooting for 200-250 whp. this will be accomplished by running 15-18psi daily. my problem is im going to have horrable torque steer.

ok. could i take the differential out of an 86-89 integra and use the intermidiate shaft and axles to correct the torque steer. i know this won;t eliminate all of it but should get me close. im just wandering if the integra diff will fit. and my reasion for using it is because i hear they have a different number of splines so i would have to use the integra to use the intermidiat shaft. also woudl i need to use the integra knucks and brakes aswell? if so would they be a better upgreade compaired to my stock dx rotors and drums. thanks

this will be in a 92 civic dx sedan. using a d16z6 engine and tranny. so id like to keep it hydro.

LSD would be nice but im short on money do to the d16z6 rebuild and turbo kit im peicing together. i could prolly get the intermidiate shaft, axles, and differential for under 300 and i got a place that will install it for 125. so id be looking at half the price a an LSD and i with the integra axles their already rated for higher torque so would the diff even fit? and do they make a LSD that i could use the equal lengh with? that would be perfect.

Nope, you can't do it with the axles.

Yeah, this is something I am piecing parts together and researching.

I'm actually elling the turbo kit, but am still doing the equal length and traction bar setup.

A write up should insue after the new year when I get time and get all my parts together. If you've notice, the D16Z6/ZC, etc blocks are already either drilled and tapped, or just drilled(and need to be tapped) for an intermediate shaft to bolt to the block

Huh? what do u mean?

i know the axles don;t fit into the hyrdo tranny cause they have a different number of splines. if i change the diff so i have the right number i can then drill and tap the holes for my block and then i will prolly have to change the knuckels so i have the right number of splines their as well. anyone actually do this i saw it done in a hondatunning mag but it was in a CRX with the ZC tranny. any info would be great. im going to start buying the diff, axles, knuckels/hubs, and the intermidiate shaft cause if it won;t work in mine it will work in a crx. thanks for the help.

Have you thought about a ZC differential?

It is set up for a midshaft and equal length driveshafts.

Would it go right into the Z6 tranny?

I can't say because I have not torn down a Z6 tranny, but I have a ZC diff that I could compare to a Z6 one if anyone has a busted Z6 one they'd want to send me for comparisons.

Instead of swapping hubs and all that....

Use the original inners and outers to go with the tranny and hub, but then use all Teg or ZC shafts

Yes, you cannot take a B series LSD but, there are MANY companies that make LSDs for the D series Hydros.

kaaz and quaiffe (sp?) both offer LSDs for the d-series tranny. However I want to hear more about this equal length driveshaft thing

me too. i'm curious... i don't even know what an intermediate shaft is (i'm a dseries person... screw learning about the b series for now)

the kazz lsd is a clutch type, and the quaife is a gear type. i know this is true for the b series, is it for the d series also? i would think it is...

a clutch type lsd has to be rebuilt every 10-20k, and is not the ideal for a daily driver. a gear type does not, and is what most people opt for. or so i have been told.... any thoughts?

torque steer is created more by unequal length axles not an open diff. and open diff causes the ever so famouse one wheel peeler. the wheel jerking left or right is caused by the axle length. thats why i want them equal. also my civic with the dx motor tranny and 7psi broke both tires loose everytime. so as of now i have no use for lsd cause im leaveing 2 patches. thats a joke. LSD and Equal length would even me up with a Bseries. especialy when my sohc has 250whp.

hmm i gess i could keep the dx outer boots. would it be benificial to upgrade to the old school teg brakes front and back? i believe they are both disk, and i could get a 91 ex sedan m/c to add peddle feel any thoughts on this? also still need to know if the teg or the ZC diff will fit in a z6 tranny.

well the intermidiate shaft i was bidding on on ebay is now way out of my price range. due to my engine rebuild i can't afford to spend much on this modification. ill be calling HAP recycling in cali on monday to see if they have any old integra diffs, intermidiate shafts and axles.

I was changing the oil on my 98ex (d16y8) and saw what appears to be the 3 holes on the back of the block to mount an intermediate shaft. They also appeared to be threaded

YUP....every d series block I have come across has the holes...some are threaded and some are not...but it's just a matter of finding what parts will make the combo work...I've no time over the Holidays so far to look into anything or hit up the junk yard
