take out the power steering civics are light enough that its not very hard to turn even when your sitting completly still.

Manual steering rack from a Civic VX. Lighter, easier turning effort.

No power steering. I dont have a Honda anymore but I swapped out my power steering rack for a manual one. Im not sure on a Honda but I know on my car it is a pain in the **** if the motor isnt out to swap the steering racks.

A Civic isn't bad at all to drive w/ a power rack and no pump, parallel parking can take a little arm strength, though. I would recommend a manual rack, however.

Anyway, yeah. I'd pull it, keep everything and you can always put it back on...

As for other stuff you can take out... Have you ditched the air conditioning yet? Compressor, condenser, etc. all adds up to a lot of weight. If you don't mind a little more noise you can pull up the carpet and get rid of the sound deadening. I recommend letting it sit outside on a VERY cold day then chipping it out, or using dry ice, rather than heating it with a heat gun and scraping. Carbon fiber panels (hood, trunk) shave a pretty significant amount of weight too. I wouldn't bother with the fenders, the OEM's don't weigh much of anything the way it is.

Civic racks are a lot easier. All Nissan racks suck.

you can get that kit that lets you keep your power rack, cause if you switch to a CX/VX rack your turning radius won't be as tight i think
