Spoon DC2 ITR For Sale (Honda Challenge ?)
Have you guys noticed that the North American distributor is selling Spoon ITR #96?
After hashing out some things in the Classifieds ad, it sounds like it would be pretty much H2 legal after replacing safety equipment.

From the picture it looks like the blue Spoon calipers are on there. Yes, I know the parts list says they are not included, but its an awful long list... which i'm sure most of us didn't bother to read.

The calipers are not included. They are asking a little under what a new ITR costs. Not such a bad deal for a race car that needs very little modification.
I've seen the car up close. If I were in the game and had the money available, I would probably offer $20,000 flat for it.
Better research the cage and send pictures to Jim Politi to see if it complies w/current NASA/Honda Challenge standards. The harnesses are also mounted on the floor behind the driver in JDM style.
It'd be grand to see this old car in the Honda Challenge, but it's too much for most of the easterners. Really too bad.

there are alot of links to pictures from the ITR expo here:
http://mmsports.org/expo.html - I'm sure there are some of this car.

the cage is questionable...
The "kombat body kit" would put it into H1 unless they allow JDM cars into H2 (with a OE front skin installed).
Lotto time here I come.

From what I remember of the Expo, anyone who buys it for a NASA series should count on replacing the cage.

replace? modifing it should suffice.
add some padding
add a few bars (here and there)
the fuel tank may need some work also...
will
-who can only dream

you can say that again....questionable at best. Of course im now spoiled by the sight of REAL cages and REAL welds...like some of the stuff Dr. Cortez is working on.

I think the spot welded chasses would be considered illegal for HC.. But then again, if someone bought it and raced it, I wouldn't care!
Will, sell the "fender" ITR and buy this one..

motor = g) Compression may be increased one half (.5) a point greater than factory number.
bumper beam = :shrugg: I guess the will be checking beams this year...
trnasmission = swap 4th and 5th gears out and you are fine

all signs point to H1</TD></TR></TABLE>
National rules actually make no mention of requiring USDM cars. The way I read them, you could legally run a JDM ITR in H2 (bodywork, trans, and all).

????
You can buy a rough looking ITR for $10-$12K. That car does not have $18,000 worth of upgrades or development or history.

If it indeed costs a little less than a new ITR, which is about $24K, then I would say it's a reasonable price for this car since a lot of parts and labor work has been put into it.
I've spent a lot of money (header + exhaust + rims + LSD + flywheel + FD + suspension + roll cage + etc) to prep my R for H2 race but still is NO WHERE close to this Spoon car.....
