best header for b20/vtec??
anyone do any dyno runs with different headers for a b20b/vtec? i'm in need of a header, but don't know what i should get. what's the best bang for the buck?? jdm dc sports 4-1 header?? bang for the buck....
oh, and my specs will be: itr head, itr cams, tj cam gears, itr manifold, 64mm tb, aem cai, 83mm (I think) 5zigen exhaust...

theres so many smsp, ericks racing, hitech, the best to go is custom though depending on how technical you want to get. nuts and cash thats all it comes down to.
well, i'd like to see if anyone has any dynos. when i said bang per buck, well, for example... if a jdm dc sports header gives me 12 horsepower for $400, that means i spent $100/3 horsepower. if the hytech header only gives me 16 horsepower for like $1000, well, i'd be spending $100/1.6 horsepower... understand what i'm sayin'? i'm not looking for the most all out power, i'm just looking for a minor/mild setup right now that wont empty my pockets.

yah, i got the jdm dc 4-1 right now and realized that it's probably the best hp per cost... i'll just buy another one of these then. thanks guys.
Well this is a dyno of a B20 but with my GSR header. I haven't had the chance to build a 2L header for the engine yet. The owner will probably go with a little wilder set up next so I'm not sure if we'll be able to do a back to back with the current set up. I think the 2.5" exhaust is a typo. A 2L header should help in running the torque curve out more so it doesn't have that drastic drop in the upper rpm range.

Check Danny out, all I've heard is great things from his header!

yah, i checked it out. right now, i'm buying the necessities to finish my b20/vtec. if i feel the need for more horses out of my setup, i'll look into danny's or the smsp header

Dave, would your 1.8L header be sufficient for a B20 non-vtec w/ a cam that has nearly identical lift and duration as the oem GSR vtec cam lobe? 7500 rpm redline.

with such a small list of mods 254.6 hp seems easy hehe....
its really hard to argue against the JDM DC as far as power per dollar but ill be damned if i have to buy the header over and over again cause i keep banging it up. ive scraped my stock header and my z-10 traction bars already so i KNOW that ill wreck a DC header. it could be 50 cents but if i have to replace it every few months its just not worth it. thats why i spent the extra money and went with a 4-2-1 long tube header.
