Who's going? $130.
I'll be there, the big track looks FAST and FUN. The redline people are nice guys, albeit new at the whole track day thing.
and yet another opportunity to bond with the H-T RR/AX guys!

I might go, although that's not one of my favorite tracks. I wish there were a few more twists and turns.
I think I met you at the last event, your car looks familiar. We have the same black Pro-race 1 wheels

Big Willow is alright, but 5th gen prelude gearing blows for it.
You top out 3rd coming out of T2, drop to 2nd for T3 and realize the gear is too short. Then throughout the omega complex you're wheezing for more tug, but there ain't none, until you come out of the omega and crest T6 (or is it T7) at the top of 3rd , shift to 4th, then troddle your way into fifth coming into T8 down to fourth for T9 and back on the front straight to do it all over again.
It always makes me wish for a tighter 'box, but the track is alright , overall. 1st few times I ran it, I thought it was boring as ****, but you drive it a few times and you get a sense of nuance for the place -- either that, or I'm on acid (which could also be true).
Have fun.

I guess the most fun part is just that, T3-4-5-6. T9 is a good place to practice smoothness at high speed. I wish I had an ITR tranny with 4.7 FD when going up T3 as well, the GSR's doesn't cut it. T1 after the long straight is a very fast left hander, which can be a lot of fun.
Anyone going this weekend to the streets? I need to change my front UCA with Skunk2, so I can get some -ve camber dialed in by Sunday. Just tried to do it the hard way, and the ball joint wouldn't separate from the upper part of the knuckle. Think one of these will do it?

Did you change your gear ratio or your tire OD? I didn't go to 5th at T8 (or I could be just not pushing the car fast enough there). For me, I top out 3rd coming out of T2, short shift to 4th, then downshift back to 3rd for T3-4-5-6. The car bogs going up the hill after T3 into T4 with 3rd. I tried in 2nd and for some strange reasons, the car sometimes would early fuel cut at around 6500 rpm as I was approaching T4. So I just stay in 3rd. Then shift to 4th at T7 and carry through T8 into T9. I downshift to 3rd for T9 which I should've just stay in 4th. Top out of 3rd exiting T9 into the front straight, back up to 4th and start over. Next time I go to the Big Track, I'll stay in 4th for T9.

That's pretty much the way to do it (thats the way I do it also.) Coming out of T6 I always find myself having to shift to 4th before i crest the hill. Then keep it in 4th until T1.

i get that at times too...it seemed to happen during turns, so i was wondering if it was an oil starve issue.

ah swazi, were you in the white dc5-s with the bronze emotions?
yesterday was fun, the mustangs were pretty fast even if they weren't letting people pass as much as they should have.
i was having issues with turn 3. as i went through 2 i would shift to 4th and accelerate briefly before braking and downshifting to 3rd and turning in on 3--but the bowl and uphill features of the turn would kill my exit speed and i'd find that 3rd was undergeared for the occasion. eventually i started d/s to 2nd (which still felt undergeared) but god there were a couple times where 3 almost made me toss my cookies.
i was really impressed with my new pads yesterday (cobalt gt-sports F and carbotech R) and the azenis held up for 10 mins at a time before they got greazy and slick. i ended up driving most of the day on azenis up front and pirelli pzeros R. i rode along with some kid in his new black Evo8 on victoracers and it was alot of fun until the carsickness took over.
anyway, i won't hesitate to say that i might have been the slowest guy out there on saturday but i had a lot of fun. i'm just not sure that big willow is the ideal track for my car and current setup.

yes that was me, yes 3 is a bitch. that was my first time there, it's a lot of fun but would be a lot funner if my car was setup more for it inc more power.
I got some good vid of me passing a Cobra coming out of 2 (not supposed to do that) and a GT coming down out of 4 (not supposed to do that either) but it was all real clean and safe,
I also have the cobalt gt-sports up front, they are nice, but i need my stockies for the street
Anyone know who was the white hatch with CF hood on Saturday? I spun out right in front of him, the vid is awsome

I was there on sunday with the ebp Si. It was a pretty cool event, not too crowded. Did you guys see those radicals? those were some crazy machines. This was my 3rd time at the big track and its fun but i still like the streets better, its just more technical and more fun for an underpowered FF car.

yeah those little cars were killer. i was never on track with them but i was watching them and the 2 race prep vipers and i was actually glad--the exhaust note would have shattered my car...
after driving the big track i like streets better too for exactly the same reasons. it's alot more fun tossing the car around @ streets too.
