JDM ITR HID bulb?
hey, i was wondering if anyone knew the hid bulb size for the jdm itr headlights. i was thinking about getting some oem honda ballasts w/o the bulbs and was hoping i could order some hid bulbs from the acura dealership. hopefully another acura uses the same hid bulb size as the jdm itr hid's.

I would double-check that information. The TL and TSX have reflector housing lamps, which normally call for D2R capsules, not D2S (designed for projectors).

On the contrary, both the new TL and TSX have projector housings which take the D2S

Touché. I had assumed you were referring to the previous TL, and had forgotten that the TSX employs projectors. You are indeed correct.

it is a d2s bulb, not some 9006 rebased d2s if you have the oem hid headlight. You can just use the oem s2000 bulbs with the stock ballasts, it worked perfect for me

back to a question I asked way on earlier, at the oem kelvin rating, do All 9006 d2s bulbs put out the same output (color, brightness) Its not actually the bulb design but just the ballasts that change the output? Wondering because I've seen aftermarket kits that are 5k that are "crystal white" (bluish) and another kit that was almost purpl-ish in color and was also a 5k kit.
Try to stay away from those bulbs, usually there is a "coating" on the bulb to achieve the more bluish/purple color. The design of the reflector/ projector is what gives the purplish look but white light on the ground. Unfortunately when you retrofit HID into a headlight (reflector/projector) that originally was halogen based, you will not get the same effect as OEM hid headlights.
wow, even more good info! so tell me guys, is there a difference between the hid and non hid jdm itr headlight housing? i think the only difference is the beam cutoff, but is that it??

HID bulbs alone are expensive. So are the majority OEM parts! So that makes sense for that much money to pay on OEM Honda D2S capsules when considering it's HID.
