Default easiest way to get the alternator out? 88 CRX DX?

i'm forced to do a DIY on the CRX alternator before i sell it?

quickest way to pull it... I've heard rip apart the top side and get it and then i've also heard jack up the motor and get it from under..

any other ideas? quickest and most painless is what i'm going for.

thanks.

I don't think it fits from the top.
You have to get it from under: unbolt everything then pass it next to the axle & crossmember

No! No! No! Pull the master cylinder from the booster. DO NOT DISCONNECT THE LINES Just move it out of the way when its separated from the booster and remove the alternator. Piece of cake!!

This is simple, i've done it twice so far...........From under is by far the easiest.

From the top: Unplug the alternator, remove the bolt holding the wire on and remove the bolt that allows you to adjust tension. Alternator should now pivot freely on the bottom bolt.

From the bottom (jacked up of course): Remove the dust shield in the tire well (important in removing alternator from car). Remove the pivot bolt . Alternator is now completely disconnected and free to move, however you can't pull it out yet b/c it wont fit. Now, remove the bracket, 2 bolts. Alternator can now be removed b/w the axle and out where the dust shield was. Simple as that. Just put it back in the reverse order.

Its a lot easier than most people think.

disconnect the battery FIRST. then remove the 10mm power terminal and harness plug.

unbolt the alternator. place it over the crossmember. remove the lower bracket, 14mm socket bolts. ive heard a tip to not remove one of the bolts and keep it loose to help not having to align it afterwards. jack up the front corner of the car so the wheel is off the ground. helps if you remove the wheel. then it comes out thru the suspension and axles. position the alternator with the pulley facing down, and the bottom pointed out, and it just slides out like perfect solution to a puzzle. theres no other easier way.

removing brakelines, master cylinder, intake or whatever is just foolish.

Top is simpler!!! No jacking or anything. I've been working on cars when rotaries was the ****. Just the 2 bolts for the M/C and the alternator comes right out. Trust me. You are NOT disconnecting brake lines from the master cylinder. You are just moving the M/C out of the way with the lines still attached. This works!!! I didn't believe at first until I tried it.

I guarantee you'll do it in less than 30min!!!

Ya I also did it by puling out my master cylinder and it comes out fine.

I did disconnect the lines though, there isnt a problem with that other than me having to bleed my brakes right?

Right! but you didn't have to disconnect the lines. They bend enough without not even nearly getting kinked.

Ya I guess I just thought they had to be disconnected, never really thought about it. Thanks though, I have to pull my alt soon to throw in my new 135amp. Will save me a lot of time
