VIS CF HOOD ARE STRONG HOOD INCLUDING THE LATCH... YOU SHOULDNT REALLY NEED A HOOD PIN UNLESS YOU ARE RACING CONSTANLY AT LEAST 110 MPH... I MEAN I HAVE RACED WID NO HOOD PINS AT LEAST 110 MPH BUT NOT CONSTANLY... WELL ITS TO YOUR OWN DISGRETION... PERSONALLY I DONT THINK HOOD PIN LOOKS ALL THAT GREAT WID THAT NEW CF HOOD... I JUST LIKE THE CLEAN LOOK

If you can find a person familiar with working with carbon fiber, they can lay a few more layers where the latch is, making it stronger if you really don't like the hood pins.

Many people say carbon fiber hoods require them... just in case. You don't want your hood flying up when you're driving on the highway.

I wasn't going to untill i found that the guy i bought the hood from didn't put it on becasue he didn't want hood pins, and this hood required hood pins because it is alot lighter than the vis. I don't mind them myself.

You should pick up a set of black hood locks. They will add a little security to your car, and if you get black ones, they wont look out of place like colored hood pins.

I'll say the same thing whenever people ask me if our hoods need hoodlocks/pins.... "It's not needed, but it's always recommended to run hood locks or pins for that extra assurance."

Hood locks are cleaner, IMO, and usually found under $20 at most places (Mr. Gasket locks). Just sand them down, primer them, spray a few coats of base to whatever color you want, then spray some clear over them. They'll last just fine if you prep & paint them properly. If you don't, they'll flake off over time and it'll look nasty.
