Default IB Project 2.1 : Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde.

IB Project 2.1 (Jekyll and Hyde)
IB and myself have come together to begin building a B series All Motor Monster... This build will be fully documented from the very beginning all the way to its track debut... This build will be a guide to those who are interested in learning the ins and outs of building a high HP B series motor...

This motor is going to be something that can go either way, it can either be ran on the edge with race gas or detuned to run smoothly on 91 octane for the daily grind... A Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde type of motor...

Here is the parts list...

B18C1 Block:
IB Super 14.0:1 86mm Pistons
IB Rods
89mm LS Crank

B16A Head:
Ported and Polished by Portflow (welded Chambers)
IB Valves
Toda Spec D's
IB Valve Springs/Retainers
RLZ Intake Manifold
70mm Billet TB
SMSP Header

Hondata S200 Tuned By Jeff Schaefer and Shawn Church (Shawn doesn't know yet- - but he will be down)

Now, the key to this set up is going to be tuning... Jeff and Shawn are both excellent tuners and are more than up to the task of tuning for this project...

The parts list is not set in stone; we will be trying different parts combos to see what works best with this particular engine. We will be relying heavily on IB's engine building expertise and excellent parts selection to pull this thing off. Pics will be posted during various stages of the build-perhaps video, we are still working out some of the details. The bare block is going to the machine shop on Monday for Stage One...

A quick caveat: this kind of motor is not for everybody. Running this kind of compression on the street without proper tuning is guaranteed to end with a motor in several very expensive pieces.

Stay tuned.

Yes, this one is going to be bigger and badder. Bigger bore and stroke, along with a few refinements yet to be determined.

wtf?

14.0:1 compression on 91 octane, is that possible?

I can see if this is going to be a race motor, but how many people on here has the funds or the time to build a race motor, rather than a daily driven street car.......get my drift.

Unless its a typo.

I'm still scratching my head on these IB spec piston alone, lol.

No typo... Todd Drives his on 91 now the way it is, so does Jerry... I mean you obviously cant run the car at WOT but for driving around, to and from 91 is just fine with good tuning

Well show you this and a lot of other "hey, I didnt know you could do that" type of things with this build

Well make it clear this isnt for everyone to be doing... Its just to show that we do in fact do run our motors on pump gas and that the majority of our motors are in fact daily driven... Its a kind of "Silence The Critics" type of thing... Its a combination of Good tuning and well engineered parts...

Id just like to point out again, this is not to something just anybody can do... You cant just throw a 14.0:1 motor together and expect to be able to drive it around on pump gas... The motors we have out there that are 13.4:1+ running on pump gas for around town use are meticulously tuned and maintained using proven combinations of parts and very experienced tuners... These motors are not run at WOT while running pump gas, they are only driven under light to moderate duty in to and from type travel...

We intend to show everyone alot of new things with this build and possibly debut some new parts in the process...

Telling people that you can run 14:1 on 91 Octane is spreading missinformation...You know H-T is a big ******* bandwagon and theres hordes of nut jockers ready to jump on the latest 'kool thing'. So you say they are made to drive around on 91, the normal people are gonna think they can dump 91 in their brand new 14:1 IB Crate motor and take the world on...Not Happening. Thats gonna be a sad kid when he spits his pistons out the exhaust. Just be alittle more careful with your verbage, because believe that people hang on words and will regurgitate it like its a bible verse.

I agree, that is why Ive stressed over and over in this thread that this is not something for everyone... I would not recomend this to anyone outside of IB or to anyone other than IB associates... The majority of people/tuners dont have the ability and experience to make this type of motor run on 91 for daily driving aplications... This is just to show people that it can be done, not to tell people to go out and do it...

Not to sound corny but...

DONT TRY THIS AT HOME
