what sets of a fuel code (43)?
Had the same code, luckily it was just my O2 sensor, but have heard some people never solving it. Just remember to reset ECU after installing, before start up.
I don't think that one's set off by a single sensor. If the MAP, TPS, ECT, O2, & injector pulse width don't all agree with what the ECU 'thinks' they should be for the engine's operating condition, it can throw that code. Especially if it's not obvious (to the ECU) which single sensor is to blame. Maybe it could be the FPR, or a vacuum leak, or so much blowby that everything is a little off.
It was set off by a single sensor on mine. BTW what year is yours? Also the car is over fueling at the moment so prepare for extra gas.
Does it only come on after its warmed up for about 5 mins? If so its the O2, once its heated up, and working, it detects a problem.

'92 gsr. oil got past the spark plug gaskets and on the wires and top of the plugs, then it ran like *** and i set of a code 43. so i was just wondering if the oxygen sensor would set it off, but i am not throwing an o2 code.

Mine throws a 43 and does that, must be an o2 sensor. I need one for cheap!

I got mine for 47.99 form CarQuest. It is a Bosch universal one, so only need to connect 4 wires, very easy. The model specific is about $250
Hope it goes well.

How do you like the universal one? Any problems?

I'm also getting a code 43 and 1, and I've checked all vacuum lines and they're fine so must be the o2, but everyone says the bad o2 kills your gas mileage, but mine is normal? The light comes on after about 20-30 minutes of driving. It has been doing it for 3-4 months now.
If I was you, go to a Mechanic with one of the ECU readers, give $20-$30 and ask him to scroll down and see what exactly is happening. They did this for me and saw that the ECU was going into limp mode i.e the AF Ratio had been set at full rich, as the ECU was sent a signal that the car was leaning out, due to the o2 sensor.
Don't forget the o2 sensor has to fully warm up before it works, thats why it took 5-10 mins before the light flashed on.

If it was running rich wouldn't that kill my gas mileage? Also happens well after it has been warmed up, say I've been driving for an hour, turn the car off, and immediately start it back up, it would still be another 20-30 minutes before it comes on.

Yes, if it was running rich your gas milege would decrease. As far as your symptoms I am not sure, maybe check the voltage to the fuel pump

just make sure to connect the right wires, and to reset the ECU
