Default crower cams vs. skunk springs problems???

any way, I have broke a pair of crower cams recently and brian at crower happily replaced the cams no questions asked. He even replaced my stock valves with there stainless valves. Any way brian said something to me the last time I talked to him that "when My cams break again, not if, but when they snap because of using skunk springs he will not be held responsible". I totally understand where he is coming from and talked to him further about why. He said that within the last few weeks he has had about 4 customers break cams using skunk valvtrain. He said they picked up a couple dozen(or somethin) springs from skunk2 and tested them outand they werent holding up to the harmonics or frequencies that the crowers cams create. he even was willing to get me a set of his springs and retainers for $299.99, 150 bucs cheaper than crowers list prices.

I know every company whether it be skunk or crower, etc. is going to stick up for there product and claim it to be better. Has anybody tested these theories, or had any experience. I dont know if I want to give up on crowers cams yet but if what they are saying has any truth to it I want to know.

I am even considering going with crower valvetrain and ditching the skunk so that there isnt a problem if the cams do break again. But on the other hand I dont want the damage to my engine/head if the cams break again.

my head has 63403 crower stage 3's
valvetrain is skunk2 springs/retainers.

any opinions and insite to this topic is more than welcome obviously.

I had a set of skunk2 springs before i changed over to the portflows in my h22a.I do admit, the skunk2 springs are very strong...,compared to the portrflows and my cousins crower springs i felt before.I really wonder if any testing or R&D went into these springs from skunk2....

Hmmm... sounds vaguely like the Junk2 coilover sleeves... supa stiff...

How do you like the Portflows aelous? dual springs or just inners?

Quick question for you. I'm thinking about getting the same cams(Crower 63403 or 63402). Besides the fact that they broke on you, how good are they hp wise. I'm at 180hp with a ctr intake cam and I would like to see at least close to 20 hp increase with a crower cam. They claim on there website that their cam does make that much hp. How much hp did it help your setup? How is the cars idle? One more thing I have all Crower valvetrian components, so hopefully the harmonic balance is right and the cams won't break (hopefully).

I never made it to a dyno with these cams and to tell you the truth I didnt even get to compare stocks to stage 3's. when I built the motor the cams went in before start up. Idle was fine because they have stock idle lobes.

I do however wish I did a comparison on cams though, but I have heard all sorts of stories (whether the cams made most power at 0,0 or the intake had to be advanced alot) It all depends on where you want your power in the power band.
