While I agree with Mike....

If you are going to ride around with non-compliant parts, you have to be prepared for this. This really is no different than getting a fine for using a test pipe or non-DOT tires, no?

What kind of HID kit do you have? There's a real problem with cops in Montreal. One will tell you it's okay, and the other will fine you for it. I would contest the ticket and tell the judge it's an upgrade. That they come standard on Newer model Acuras and quote how they are brighter and light up the road ways better than conventional means ( Cite articles and do some research ) leave it up to the crown prosecutor to find what law it actually breaks. He/She probably won't be prepared....

Good luck!

There's the other problem!!

Even the law enforcement doesn't KNOW the law. That's unacceptable.

However, it is our responsibility to familiarize ourselves with the law.

So what if your car is from the US? Stock? Aftermarket? I doubt that you would get fined that way. Someone mentioned that some Acuras come with HID in Canada. Why is it frowned upon there? WRX STi's in Canada don't come with HID but luxury cars come with them? I don't get it.

fight the ticket. the ticket should list what part of the Highway Traffic Act (or your local laws) you are in violation of.

Look up that particular section of the act and see what it says - most of the time the statements are very vague and upto interpretation.

attend the hearing and see what the justice of the peace has to say.

you may be able to get a reduction in the fine as well.

hmmm... i think you guys should be extra careful these days with your HID usage since the regulation is new, they might be crazy looking for ppl using aftermarket HID's, i'll just leave it off during the day for now.
i drive really slow and careful everyday, in a month my car got towed and a ticket for HID, i think i'm just bad luck here

I think so too, cause most of the time police really don't like aftermarket exhaust at all
