Default ProDrive John here...

Hey everyone. Thanx for the response and the interest in our products. I know that our website is still in it's infancy, but it will be getting better with time. To answer some of the questions posted, Yes we do make OP gears for H22 and they are on the shelf. Sorry, we don't make them for D series motors, there just isn't enough of a call for them. And unfortunately, a spool will never be very streetable, like Viren said. Sorry about not having prices on the website, so I will list them here. All prices are suggested retail. Spools are $599.00, Axles are $299.00 ea., Hub Kits are $345.00 ea., Oil Pump gears are $209.00 ea. We don't charge tax, and we cover ground shipping. 2nd day or Next day you pay for. Generally when you call me, I will give a 5% discount to just about anyone. Since there has seemed to be a really good response in the three day since I posted, I talked to my boss and got permission to give 10% off if you mention that you heard about us on Honda-Tech.com. We do have quantity discounts, and if anyone is interested in getting a group buy, then I will give that info out at that time. Hope this little note helps, and I will look forward to hearing from anyone who needs help. You can call at 562-630-8884

Is this a complete replacement pump, or a modified stock pump with upgraded wheels like the Spoon pump. Can anyone comment on the fit of the H22a pump?

This is a set of replacement wheels. I have never heard of a housing going bad, unless of course the broken pump wheels do any damage. The difference between a ProDrive Pump and O.E. is this. An O.E. pump is made up from cintered metal. Cintered metal for those of you who don't know, is an extremely fine powdered metal that is put into a mold the shape of the pump gear. It is then pressed under extreme pressure, removed from the mold and put into an oven with a bonding agent like bronze or something that will melt, go into the pores of the material and act as a glue to hold it all together. ProDrive Oil Pumps are made from Billet Stress Proof material, and then are ground to size. Each pump is made as a set to O.E. specifications per size and tolerance. Many of todays fastest Hondas use them such as Steph Papadakis and Lisa Kubo. Let me know if there are any other questions.

I ordered it. Hopefully I'll get it before I leave Thursday for Toronto. I can drop them off at the shop that's putting my engine back together for me. Sounds great, and I'll let everyone know how they work out.

Thanks for your help, John.

John, do you do any other work on the oil pump for the high end drag cars like popadokis'? I've heard the stock casing can cause cavitation or high pressure @ high rpm problems without additional work done to it, but that was second hand knowledge.

Also, do you guys modify the water pump at all for those cars?

Thanks,
Jeff Krisfalusy

Steph does buy OP gears from us. One thing that a lot of people don't think of, is that the pump is driven off of the front of the crank. If the clutch and flywheel assembly is not balanced together, that can cause premature failure of the pump, since the vibration will be passed to it from the other end of the gear. We don't do any work on the water pumps, but you can go to AEBS or Mezeirre and get one of their electric water pumps, that are supposed to be worth up to 5 hp. They are excellent pieces, and I would recommend them to anyone building a race car.

I got mine today and they look pretty sweet. I'm glad I got them sent next day on Tuesday, if I waited a day I wouldn't have got them here in NY.

Now that I see them, I realize I was pretty stupid for not asking the build material. It looks like stainless steel with the ProDrive name etched on both inner and outer gears. I guess to prevent rebadging and reselling.

No question they'll hold.
