I want to lower my car but maintain ride comfort. Need sugestions on wich springs.
Sorry in advace cuz this subject is well covered but I would like to hear more opinions and suggestions.
What I would like to do is lower my daily driver '92 SI but maintain a near stock ride comfort and NOT have to replace the shocks due to high spring rates. I also saw a few posts saying that the springs didnt lower there car evenly. I really dont want that. I also plan on taking the car into get it aligned afterwards because the car gets driven alot of miles daily.
I left the pole open if you want to add a lowering spring that I did not include but mind yourself cuz big brother is watching.
Im on a slight budget I dont want to spend more than 300 after shipping.
And before you flame me on this should be appearance forum cuz im not planning on racing my car or some crap, I looked in there and all the post pretty much consist of "Here are pics of my car look at them YIPPIE"

I said H&R Sport b/c I like the ride quality and due to the low cost you will be able to save for good shocks sooner.

I've got H&R on my SI and I like them. Sits about the perfect height I think. I barely barely barely scrape my header on big speed bumps and on steep driveways I just go slow and I don't hit the lip. The ride is pretty good. My struts are gone so it is a little bouncy but pretty good overall.

Re: (Huggy Bear)
Whatever you do, don't get coilover sleeves (usually have high spring rates)...sport springs (Neuspeed, eibach, H&R) will lower your car and preserve the smooth ride. H&R and eibach have pretty good quality.

Thanks for the replys! Im still researching and I will probably buy springs this weekend.
I checked out the H&R's on TireRack.com and they will probably come out to $170 after shipping and taxes.
Are the H&R's progressively wound?
BTW: Any socal people know of a decent alignment shop near torrance? Honestly ill go to pepboys or whatever as long as the job gets done and my cars not screwed up afterwards. Price matters a little too.

func-tion i hope ur planning to get aftermarket shocks or coilovers because just lowering ur ride without gaining any performance is sorta ricy... u might possibly damage ur stock shocks as well, atleast thats how it goes in the 240sx/Silvia world. I'm pretty sure it would go the same with Hondas.
and BTW, since i can't vote yet, i would recommend RS*R or Tein S springs.

Im not about performance (atleast for this car)I want ride comfort without a 4" gap in my fender well. That should say it all. Im not looking to slam my car Im just not digging the 4x4 look.
BTW: what companies have had problems with uneven drops? Or was it all installer error.

just get ground control basic kit. they start at 340 f 250 r
that is not alot stiffer than lower springs and you get to adjust EXACTLY the way you want. they will be ok with stock shocks long enough to save for shocks.then down the road ordering custom rates to match the new shocks.
this is more cost effective in the end.

I have H&R Race springs on my sol with some cheappy shocks for now.. looking to get some KYB AGX's in a week or 2. My friend has H&R sport on his teg and both of us really like our rides. Its comfortable and pretty close to stock. well at least mine was but i think my cheappy shocks went bye bye. so im sitting on some leaky **** right now. As for allignment just take it to sears or something. its around 60 bux and if the tire wear is still off then they re-do it for free.

Pro-kit is the most comfortable spring you're going to find...
They have progressively wound springs so there are soft coils for everyday driving and stiff ones for aggressive driving...
They are my favorite spring in the world... I would take those over ANY linear rate spring regardless of name brand or "superiority".
I'm not saying they're what you want if you're auto-xing... (frankly if you can take advantage of them properly you could though) but for comfort/performance imo nothing will beat them...
Unless you can find a progressive rate coilover... then I'd probobly consider those...
They take some getting used to (you have to load them going into corners or they can "switch rates" mid corner and kinda scare the pants off of you) but once you've got a handle on how to drive with them they are SICK...
I could scare the crap out of the toughest drivers in my old car with those springs.

Another vote for Pro-kits. I don't actually have them on my Civic (Sportlines there), but my dad has them on his Eclipse, and in daily driving they feel as plush as stock on his car. I know what you're saying NonovUrbizniz about the spring increasing rate mid-corner though, and you'rer right, it is a little unnerving, especially the first time you really push it..
Also, while this wasn't a poll choice per say, I'd just like to mention that I think my Eibach Sportlines allow a fairly comfortable ride as well. They're a little stiffer than stock, but not bad at all, and the handling & control that these help afford is well worth a very minor penalty in ride quality.
Just my 2 Abe's for ya

Re: (Atheist)
if your not looking to lower the car that much i'd go with a set of itr's they ride nice and can be found cheap used. i'm running them on my 99 hatch and i love the way they ride.
