Just installed a OEM Honda S2000 headunit from a 2003 on my buddies ITR. The 2000-2001 has a different design and this certain one was made in 2002-2003. The unit is Alpine and you do need a harness for it to be plug and play. I forgot how many watts of power it has but it is definately an improvement over stock.

Has a clock too!

Lights up the same amber. The 2000-2001 headunit looks like a Civic Si unit so he didn't bother getting that one.

 

Will it fit in Civics?

 

Definately should. It's the same exact size.

Check out http://www.s2ki.com and many users are selling theirs.

The 2000-2001 go for a lot less than the 02-03.

Price is usually $75-125 depending on condition.

I heard the sound system in the s2k sucks ***....why would you want to put it in your car?

 

they're not putting in the s2k sound -system-.

My buddy is gettin an 02 s2k on friday... I will ask him for his stock stereo. I will be doing this mod as well. I hope I get more juice from it. I cant stand my radio. It blows. I was going to get better speakers but I dont think it will help since the stereo it not powerful.

I would get something aftermarket but i like to keep my ITR OEM as possible.

 

My buddy doesn't have it mounted in yet. He plans to take it to a shop.

It does sound A LOT more clear with just stock speakers already. I can imagine that it will sound pretty good with some aftermarket ones.

I'm sure that an aftermarket headunit will perform better than this but it's something "different".
