TYPE-R synchros in GSR tranny, will they fit?
I doubt they fit because they're different gear ratios. I don't think there's any aftermarket synchros better than stock. I do knoiw that tranny fluid can make a huge difference, such as redline mtl or Honda mtl. I recommend Honda.
why the hell for? It wont make a difference, I cant imagine them being any different, I may be wrong, but it just dosent make sense
I agree with lsos, expirement with different fluids, everybody's raving about the GM syncroshift stuff, supposed to work wonders!
And not to be a jack ***, but mabey you just need to practice smoother shifting or different clutch techniques,, you may learn your not driving to your full potential.

i know how to shift perfectly, thats not a problem. my gears have been quite jerky since i bought it. new honda fluid did nothin. type r synchros are stronger then gsr's due to double synchros. i goint to overhaul the tranny anyway so i was just wondering

your sure? from what i know civic si and type r trannies have the same gear ratios but are NOT the same. type-r gear boxes had stronger synchros thrown in, something like double synchros gears and triple in 2nd. any one wanna clarify?

The type-r DOES have dual syncros on at least 1-4th. I dont beleive 5th has them. My suggestion is instead of buying syncro sets from acura, buy a low mile type-r tranny and save yourself some trouble. But yes, you heard right, dual syncros are not a myth.
I do not believe that there are any b-series trannys with double cone syncros. In fact, part numbers for the internals on the S80/Y80/Y21 are identical if I'm not mistaken.
K-series have dual cones in their trannies, but not ours.

time for a new belief system son. according to my helm manual my gsr has dual-cone's on first and second gear.
maybe it lies.

yes they will. there all the same. 2nd gear has dual syc. in both, ls tranny's do'nt. the synchros are not the problem, the slider & drum cause the shifting problem. after missing gears the leading edge of the slider gets bured then diggs into the drum. sometimes locking you out of the gear across from the one missed. new synchros fix this only because you can only buy them with the slider & drum. all you probably need to do is to file and sand or polish leading edge's of the slide and the groves of the drum. done this at least 10 times this year to my tranny.
We need to get someone who works at acura to look up the syncro sets for all of these trannies. I know the gear sets are the same, but what about the syncro? If they are the same, then I guess I was mistaken. Oh well.
jersey, quite your bitching and show us some pictures of all these trannies that you have apart, or have had apart so we can see for outselves. I have no problem admitting that I was wrong, but I want to see it with my own eyes before I beleive someone off the net. Put up or shut up, man.
I beleive in what I have evidence. I saw pictures of double syncros and they were said to be ITR's and now you come along and;
1) Won't show proof to change my mind (this isnt to be mean, I want to know the truth)
2) Make me think you're in third grade by your grammar and spelling (which isnt helping your "Im right, you're wrong" cause)
so yea.....thats right..
on me. Holy-*******-****.
get the pics and ill host them if someone will tell me how.

Yea, that's right, my asking you to prove me wrong makes it abundantly clear that I DON"T want to find out. You're a moron. My apologies to the origonal poster-this thread has gone to crap.

just curious, then why have type-r trannies been known to take more abuse than your average b16 trany?
I've read in an Acura manual (an addendum to the service manual or some other documentation, about 40 to 50 pages long) describing the differences between the GSR and ITR; it does mention dual-cone syncros and a few other beefed up internals in the transmission... though nobody has been able to confirm one way or another.

exactly man. i dont know but this subject has gotten very biased. i personally think the type-r tranny has advantages. why cant anyone confirm with solid evidence?
LOL, BIGFOOT!

Look, regardless of which one of us is right, the type-r Tranny is a good, short geared tranny that has a nice limited slip. It would be a great addition to any b-series engine. If you cant afford the type-r, the B16 tranny has the same gear ratios and would perform similarly well.
